Swallow Barn (Double-Gate Farm) Cosy Rural Cottage

The word 'standard' doesn't really do justice to these lovely cottage styled rooms in Swallow Barn. This is a double en-suite room decorated in a classic and calming duck egg blue and cream - traditional, clean and cosy. The bed is a comfortable standard double with a nice deep mattress. In additional to central heating an all seasons duvet choice will keep you just right - not too hot, not too cold. If you really do feel the cold there are plenty of spare blankets and throws available if you really want to snuggle up. Flat screen Smart TV's with capability to log into your own online streaming accounts. Touch lighting on both sides of the bed, complementary beverage tray with various teas, coffees hot chocolate and biscuits. If you want something a little more decadent our very own seasonal Tea Room is just a few steps away where you can enjoy barista made coffees, tea and homemade cakes, lunches or afternoon teas. Please check if we are open prior to arrival. The en-suite is equipped with a walk in shower, wash basin, WC and premium toiletries that you are very welcome to use whilst here. Also included are shower hats, shoe shines and a mending kit should you have a last minute wardrobe malfunction! Views are beautiful and are across open countryside towards the Mendip Hills, home of Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge. As both standard double rooms are in Swallow Barn, it has it's own guest lounge that you are very welcome to use whilst staying here. Going forward we have looked closely at how we will be running the B&B. From a Covid point of view, most guests still prefer us to not go into their rooms during their stay. In order for us to keep prices fair we have kept our nightly room rate the same with no Housekeeping. If guests would like Housekeeping to service their room during their stay this can be prebooked at the cost of £10 per service. Stays of over 4 nights will automatically be offered a complementary room Service as standard. Double-Gate Farm is ideal for exploring the South West, in a pleasant position on the Somerset Levels by the River Sheppey with views across open countryside to the Mendip Hills. After a comfortable nights sleep begin your day with one of our scrumptious breakfasts in our Garden Dining Room that has lovely views of the garden, house and meadows. Our menu has a lot to choose from: traditional farmhouse breakfast, pancakes, smoked kippers - all in all there are a dozen different breakfasts to suit most dietary requirements plus a breakfast bar. In winter we run a "Winter Warmer" special: breakfast by candlelight, when the starter menu also includes creamy porridge. Our licensed Tea Rooms are run from here - delicious home baked goodies and beverages. *NEW* for 2021 is our BBQ Hut. The BBQ Hut will also be available to private hire in the evening for guests staying at Double-Gate Farm - it would be a memorable experience for you. All ground floor areas in the Farmhouse are accessible by wheelchair and the Master en-suite is on the first floor. Our Riverside Rooms are all ground floor and extra large with patio facing south over the river, ceiling fans, refrigeration and super big wet rooms. Cosy for couples, adaptable for accessibility and spacious & flexible for families and groups. Additional cottage style en-suite rooms are based in Swallow Barn: cosy doubles and a ground floor twin. For B&B, Swallow Barn is no longer inspected by Visit England Assessment Services although our other B&B accommodation remains in the scheme. It is still inspected by the AA for B&B and Self-Catering purposes so you can rest assured that it still remains at a high standard. If you are looking to holiday with your dog, please call prior to booking to ensure our dog friendly rooms are available. We only have 2 of these rooms. If you book a pet free room without asking, your dog will not be permitted to stay.
