Artist's Retreat
A 1900's beach cottage on Peaks Island, a 5 minute walk from the ferry, but nestled off the road in a park like, peaceful setting. Hear the waves at night from the backyard, walk 5 minutes to Sandy Beach for swimming and to Picnic Point, with its view of Cushing Island and Whitehead Pass. Experience the beauty of Peaks -- but take a 17 minute ferry ride into downtown Portland for award winning restaurants. The best of both worlds! This is a unique place with an addition that was added 30 years ago which I live in. I have a separate entrance but the bathroom is shared between the two units. The bathroom is the area that connects the two areas--2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and porch are all your own. I will follow CDC guidelines for visitors, but those are changing quickly. I will be fully vaccinated by April 8th. It just depends. I travel fairly frequently for work or leisure so I may not be home. If I am home, I am happy to answer questions. Peaks Island has a grocery story, a coffee shop, a couple restaurants, a kayak rental and tours, walks along Casco Bay and the back side for the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Tour the creepy Battery Steele, an old WWII bunker. If the quiet and peace starts getting to you, head into town for great food and beer. Ferries are fairly frequent, about hourly, from 6:15 am to 10:30 (11:30 on weekends). You don't need a car (I've lived without one for a year)--You can leave your car in town, it's a longer line and expensive to get your car over on the ferry, and the five minute walk makes it not too far to carry your things to the house. I have been very careful re: Covid-19. The place will be well cleaned and I'm leaving at least a few days in between guests. The windows are almost always open in the summer. There will be abundant supplies to keep things sanitary.
