2 bedroom luxury Umbrian villa
Summary: This is a very stylish 2 bedroom cottage nestled against the town walls and on the cobbled streets of Spello, a stunning Umbrian hilltop town. It's beautifully furnished and well equipped with private lawned garden. The bedroom enjoys wonderful views over the countryside. The Space: Inside, the house is exceptionally stylish, furnished with pieces from around the world which have been collected by the owner on her extensive travels. Her attention to detail and eclectic mix of styles has imbued the property with a character and warmth that is rarely found in a holiday home. Originally a simple stone building on the edge of Spello's town walls, it has been completely re-designed and restored so that the overall feel is now fresh and contemporary. Guests enter the property via a stylish lobby. A bright Moroccan rug and cushions adds colour. However, the eye is drawn along the stone path and raised flower beds to the spacious garden on your left. Straight ahead a covered outdoor seating area sits adjacent to the open plan kitchen and living area. As guests enter the property, they will see the pretty, practical but perfectly furnished kitchen and living space. On the right is the kitchen and dining area. To the left there is a comfortable, linen-covered sofa opposite a fireplace with a modern flat screen television set on a low table. A French-style café table and chairs, linen blinds and curtains and a pair of old Belgian metal shutters (hiding china and cutlery) add character to the open-plan space. The floors throughout are a soft, taupe resin finish and the accent colour is Hermes orange. It is a chic, cheerful and modern space. An arched doorway leads to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom truly is a peaceful and romantic retreat, with breathtaking views over farmlands and the Chiona hills beyond. The king-size bed has a natural linen cover and the curtains are made from fine Indian saris bought in Pondicherry. Wall hung clothes hooks have been copied from a traditional Italian design and there are linen-lined baskets for folded clothes. A pair of vintage, red velvet chairs perfectly pull together the colours of the Moroccan rug and the stripes in the curtains. Adjacent to this room is the smaller second bedroom. This room is fresh and bright with its red, orange and white colour scheme. The curtains are a mix of sari fabric and white linen. A cosy Tyrol blanket and Etro cushions add texture to this charming room. Clothes hooks and baskets are provided as in the master bedroom. Both bedrooms share the gleaming white modern bathroom. A large shower, good directional lighting, an oversize hot towel rail and wall mirror combine to make bathing a delight. Outside, the property has the luxury of a large private garden, enjoying both shaded areas under pergolas or bright sunshine on the green lawns. This is a real rarity in such an ancient town. Rosemary, sage, verbena, thyme and lavender scent the air whilst pomegranates ripen in the trees in the Autumn and climbing roses wind their way up a pergola built against ancient stone walls. An outside annexe houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, ensuring that the property is both practical as well as luxurious! Guest Access: Guests have sole use of the entire property and gardens. The Neighborhood: Its central location within the town means guests can walk to a number of restaurants and yet it has the feel of being in the heart of rural Umbria. Spello itself is an enchanting hillside town. It has a peacefulness and elegance about it that you can't fail to fall in love with, whilst the town's restaurants are famed for their superb cuisine and excellent wines. It also makes an excellent base from which to explore the wider area. Orvieto, Todi, Citta di Castello, Gubbio and Spoleto are all within easy reach along with the highly praised wine producing region of Montefalco. There are numerous activities to enjoy too including horse riding, hiking, cycling, rafting and sailing as well as cross-country skiing in the Winter, making it an ideal holiday destination all year round. Getting Around: A car is not required since you can walk to all the shops and restaurants within Spello. You can also walk to public transport links and e-bike hire is a 2 minute walk away. Other Things to Note: This is an extraordinarily special place to stay. Few holiday rentals are as luxurious and beautifully presented as this villa in Spello.
