The Sanctuary is a contemporary property located in the prestigious Storrs Park, one of the Lake District's most desired addresses. This spacious studio is the perfect base to explore the popular town of Bowness on Windermere as well everything else the Lake District has to offer. Styled perfectly to absorb the views from the outside, the property features incredible Lake Views from its private balcony. The Space: Located through a private driveway (via electric gates), this desirable romantic retreat has its own private parking within the grounds of the main house, the sanctuary is situated on the 2nd floor of a luxury Lakeland residence accessed via its own staircase. A beautiful open plan space this comfortable and spacious studio is styled with cool whites and greys to act as the canvas for the stunning views from every window. The property features a unique pull out luxury bed making the most of the space and defines the separate living areas. The cosy glass balcony is the perfect place for morning coffee or late night drinks watching the sun rise or set over Lake Windermere. A handmade kitchen with designer appliances is ingeniously tucked away from the main living area and is a splendid place to cook a meal at home. If cooking isn't on the menu, the renowned Storrs Hall Hotel is just a few moments’ walk away from the property (please check their website for up to date dining information), along with other fabulous dining options from a range of famous Michelin one and two star restaurants such as the Gilpin & Gilpin Spice, Rogan’s and L’Enclume. Alternatively for creative Lakeland cuisine try the numerous local pubs and restaurants an enjoyable country walk from the door step and/or a short drive/taxi away. The fabulous wet room with luxury appointed amenities and fittings has an incredible power shower. Guest Access: Guest have use of the whole top floor of the property with access via its own external staircase at the front of the building, please note that access to the property is via a shared driveway which also accesses the main house. Electric Gate details will be provided prior to arrival. Electric vehicle charing point also available, charged at consumption +10% for wear and tear. Deposit of £25 per day required with reimbursement if less energy used. Interaction with Guests: We manage the property on behalf of the owners who purchased the property in 2016. We are available 24/7 and would love to offer any advice regarding how to make the best of your Lake District stay. We operate a self-check in service, which will be sent 2 days prior to arrival. The Neighborhood: Located in the Storrs Park location of Bowness-on-Windermere beside Lake Windermere, one of the most prestigious locations in the Lake District, the property is within an easy drive or taxi ride to the town of Windermere or a short stroll to the iconic Storrs Hall Hotel, who offer fabulous Lake District Dining as well as relaxed drinks, afternoon teas and bar food. There are lots of beautiful walks from the house both short & long. A short walk along the private lane connects with Woodland walks through to the Lakeland Fells, Ghyll Head and beyond. The iconic Gummer’s Howe walk summit start point is a short drive away also with wonderful views of the lake. Walks from the doorstep range from 30 mins Woodland walks to hours across beautiful countryside, calling in on wonderful award winning country pubs along the way ! (such as the Brown Horse Winster and Masons Arms Bowland Bridge). Getting Around: The property is within easy access of the Lakeland towns of Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere, Ambleside & Grasmere by car or taxi, with fantastic walks, restaurants, and shopping. Bus - Stage coach no 6 from Storrs Hall to Bowness (4 mins) and then on to Windermere (14 mins) There are 4 or 5 buses in the day (early morn, mid morn, lunch time, mid afternoon and late afternoon) the Storrs Hall bus stop on the main road and returns the same way. A Taxi to Bowness is approximately £5 and to Windermere is £7 Distance to Bowness is 1.5 miles There is a nice walking route from the house via Middle Entrance Drive and down the back of Meadowcroft house which brings you out at the marina and The Boathouse restaurant (1 mile) and from there is a pavement all the way into Bowness. There are lots of beautiful walks from the house, short and long. You walk up the private lane, cross the road and you are straight into the woods and onto the fell. You can do walks from 30 mins around the woods to hours including walking footpaths to nice country pubs (Brown Horse Winster, Masons Arms Bowland Bridge) across beautiful countryside with no roads involved We would be delighted to recommend itineraries for you Lake District getaway. Other Things to Note: Please note this property is accessed via an external staircase to the second floor, Guests must be able to use this competently throughout their stay.
