The Chateau witnessed the signing of the Treaty of Cherbourg between U.S. General Lawton Collins and German General Von Schlieben on June 26th 1944. Historical tours can be organised on request. Located between Cherbourg and Bayeux, located only 5 minutes by car from Valognes, one of the most beautiful towns in Normandy, reputed for its beautiful 18th century architecture. This 16th century Chateau is an ideal base to explore Bayeux the D-Day landing beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Giverny garden and Le Mont Saint Michel. There is a lynx golf course at Fontenay nearby and a superb parkland course at Omaha Beach Golf Club Bayeux. Sleeps up to 15 people in comfort with 8 bedrooms and bathrooms.
