Near the North Sea, in the Rheiderland (East Friesland) is the picturesque fishing village Ditzum on Dollart in the area of the Ems estuary, where we would like to offer you two comfortable apartments in the detached holiday home "Schwalbennest". The house was renovated and refurbished in 2010. On the upper floor (first floor) there is a 64 sqm apartment with a balcony, which is very cozy, bright and stylish. The apartment on the ground floor (ground floor) is also comfortably furnished. You will not miss anything here. It is about 70 square meters with a terrace of about 20 square meters. Enjoy these apartments furnished with charm and taste. This creates the best conditions for a relaxing holiday. We look forward to your visit and wish you a pleasant stay. Are you looking for rest and relaxation in the fresh North Sea air or would you like to actively experience your holiday by bike? In the house Schwalbennest in Ditzum you will find the starting point for your excursions. Ditzum is a picturesque fishing village on the Dollard route with its own harbor, fishing trawlers, still active mill, ferry pier, which departs every hour for the opposite Petkum. From there it is about 7km to Emden. Another ferry brings pedestrians and cyclists to Delfzijl three times a week. During the season, June to October, a ferry runs from Ditzum to Borkum on Thursdays. Ditzum can be reached from the Ruhr area via the A 31 in about 2 hours. In the village you will find 3 fish restaurants, 1 fish snack bar, 2 cafés with the possibility of breakfast, 1 Edeka market, 1 "corner shop" (Lüttje shop), where you can get almost everything. Excursions, for example along the North Sea coast, to Leer with its historic old town, Groningen NL, Winschoten NL for shopping, to Papenburg to the Meyer shipyard are highly recommended. But you can also simply enjoy Ditzum with its sights, its charm and the beautiful sunset.                                               !!!!!!!!!! GETTING THERE !!!!!!!!!! Ditzum can be reached from the Ruhr area via the A 31 in about 2 hours. The A 31 should generally be chosen from the south, because there is little traffic on this highway: more cows in the pasture than cars on the road !!! Take the A 31 towards Meppen  Emden / Leer and exit Bingum / Jemgum in front of the Emstunnel, then follow the signs via Jemgum to Ditzum. You just have to follow the road. From the east, choose the Bremen (A27) - Oldenburg (A28) - Leer (A28) route from the Hanover area. At the Leer-Nord junction, take the A31 towards Meppen, behind the Emstunnel turn right at the Bingum / Jemgum exit. Then follow the signs via Jemgum to Ditzum. Coming from the east area Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin ... coming from the area of Wittstock A24 to Hamburg or from the areas Neubrandenburg or Rostock take the A20 to Hamburg, then choose the route Bremen - Oldenburg - Leer - as described above. How to get there: Haus Schwalbennest, Achter´d Diek 30 in 26844 Ditzum The key handover is coordinated with our house manager Ms. Ewen, mobile: 0176-21543989, 2-3 days before arrival. Ms. Ewen is also your contact person during your stay.
