Family Friendly House with Pool & Large Gardens.
Family Friendly in Idyllic Setting with Private Pool and Large Garden.
You have a world of choice considering where to go and where to stay, there are thousands of lovely holiday homes out there, so why come and stay here? To start with you could look at our reviews and find out what people who have actually stayed here love about the place and why some of them come back again and again! We understand that not everyone looks for the same thing in a holiday home but if you are reading this then something about our house has already appealed to you. So let me describe it a little for you. The house is a gite on it's own so you are not sharing the pool or garden with anyone else. We do live next door so we are on hand to help with any questions or suggestions about places to visit. We will keep the pool clean during your stay and we can often be found working in the garden and keeping the grass cut. It's so quiet here, you can sit in the garden and hear nothing but the birds twittering, crickets singing and maybe a cockerel crowing. From time to time you will hear the frogs in the pond, they get a little amorous and vocal at times! Yes, of course, cars go through the hamlet, you will need one yourself if you stay here. But, this is really rural France, deep in the heart of the Perigord/Limousin Natural Park. We are surrounded by forests and lakes and the sky is so blue and clear. The night sky is a wonderment, so clear and vast and you can watch the satellites going over. Also in the evenings the bats come out of the nearby barns and fly off for the night, if you are awake early you can see them return and climb up the barn wall and crawl into their nesting holes. The outside space here is lovely and is continuing to evolve as we come up with new ideas and schemes. We have made various outside areas for you to enjoy. Firstly, by the house is the front terrace and barbecue area, near to the kitchen to make life simple. This area gets very warm during long, hot summer days as it is surrounded by the walls of the house and barn but in the evening it provides the perfect setting for dining al fresco as the walls radiate the warmth they have accumulated. You can dine at the sturdy picnic bench John has made and use the solid built BBQ. The pool is an above ground, wooden one, perfect for cooling off when it gets a little too warm, with a wooden decked area and an area of grass where you will find sunbeds, and a parasol for some shade. Nearby is a paved terrace under the plum tree, providing some shade. Here there are two comfortable adirondack chairs also made by John with a view over the large garden. Further down the garden you will find a rustic swing hanging in an oak tree and a badminton net strung between two poles for those energetic moments. Next to this is a rustic bench for those who prefer to watch the action. Inside the house on the ground floor, you will find a large, light, well equipped kitchen, with gas/electric cooker, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The back door provides access to the back garden down a short flight of wooden steps here there is a washing line, the ancient bread oven and some more shady areas under the fig and linden tree. The lounge is both spacious and at the same time cosy, providing french windows opening on to the front terrace for summer and logburner for those chilly winter evenings. Leading off the kitchen is the large bathroom and separate toilet. With a spacious shower cubicle, providing an overhead shower and a hand shower and a bath tub, also with a hand shower, ideal for bathing young children. We supply a big bath towel and a hand towel for each guest, we also have towels for use by the pool. These will be changed halfway through a two week stay or upon request. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the first has an extremely comfortable king size bed, the second a French style double and the third, twin single beds, which can be pushed together if needed. All are supplied with fresh white bed linen, which will be changed halfway through a two week stay or upon request. The hamlet is small, so we do not have a bar restaurant within walking distance but I was a chef for many years, so we are happy to provide freshly cooked meals for you for any day of your holiday. To whet your appetite, here is one of our current menus; Salmon Tartare Duck Breast with Orange Sauce, Pommes Boulangere and Seasonal Vegetable A Trio of French Cheeses with Onion Marmalade Créme Brulée. We hope you will be interested in coming to spend your holiday here and we look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions we will be happy to answer them.
