The lounge has a south-facing balcony with views over the courtyard to Kendal Castle. The flat has its own designated parking space. Drysalters Yard is just a short walk from the centre of Kendal – a historic market town characterised by charming old yards and narrow lanes. The town is full of cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs – something to suit everyone’s taste. It also has a wide range of shops and supermarkets, from well-known high street names to quirky independent outlets. Local attractions include the Abbot Hall Art Gallery (built in 1759), Brewery Arts Centre (which offers theatre, comedy and live music, as well as a multi-screen cinema), Kendal Castle (once believed to have been the birthplace of Henry VIII’s sixth wife, Catherine Parr), Kendal Leisure Centre, Kendal Museum, Museum of Lakeland Life, Quaker Tapestry Museum and The Factory (home for some of the North West’s most exciting artists and creative businesses). There are lots of lovely walks to do within Kendal itself (for example, along the River Kent or up to Kendal Castle) or just outside the town (including Cunswick Scar, the Helm, Kendal Fell, Scout Scar and Serpentine Woods (with the fabulous Alphabet Sculpture Trail for children). Just 2 miles from the flat, you enter the stunning Lake District National Park, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. Heading east, Sedbergh and the less visited Howgill Fells are just 11 miles away, and it’s not much further to the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales. A similar drive south gets you to Morecambe Bay and the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Given the fantastic location, you won’t be surprised to find there’s a fabulous choice of leisure activities, including bird watching, canoeing / kayaking, cycling (road and mountain biking), golf (2 courses in Kendal and many others in the area), lake cruises, rock climbing, sailing, sightseeing, stand-up paddle boarding, tennis, and walking. We can even offer skiing! (There’s a dry ski slope right here in Kendal). As you can see, there’s something for all ages and all levels of fitness and ability. Oh, and one more thing. It’s really easy to get here. Kendal is under 10 miles from the M6 (accessed from junctions 36 to 39) and the apartment is just a short walk from: • Kendal train station (about 3 mins away): links to the West Coast mainline via Oxenholme station • Kendal bus station (about 5 mins away): links to many towns and cities across the UK via local and national services, including National Express
