Les Papillons - charming gite with pool.

Totally renovated farm cottage in a peaceful village in the heart of Burgundy. A perfect base for exploring the local area. Ideal for wine lovers and cyclists. Dogs are most welcome! Pricing. In the summer this includes the pool and in the cooler periods this includes electricity, heating and logs for the wood burning stove. Les Papillons was built in 1826 but has undergone a total renovation which was completed in 2017. There are 2 double bedrooms, each with their own staircase and a shared bathroom. Downstairs offers a cosy sitting room, WC and a fully fitted, modern kitchen. Heating is by electric radiators and a charming wood stove in the kitchen. There is an above ground (unheated) circular pool, 5 metres in diameter and approx 1 metre deep. You will have exclusive use of this during your stay. The pool will be available during the summer months. You will have exclusive use to all the house and garden. We are there for as much or as little as you need us. We don't meet you on arrival as experience tells us that after a long journey guests would rather just settle in. We live only a couple of minutes away so we'll pop around later to make sure you have everything you need and to introduce ourselves. After that, it's up to you...! There is no commerce in the village, but the next village (3 km) has a small shop (which sells bread, croissants and essential supplies) and a cafe/restaurant. The nearby market towns of Chatillon-sur-Seine and Montbard (both 15 km away) offer all the usual facilities of supermarkets, banks and restaurants. Montbard has a train station with access to the TGV service to Paris (1 hour). For wine lovers, the area sits just 30 minutes from the Champagne region, 40 minutes from Chablis and an hour from Beaune. Food lovers may choose from a number of local restaurants and markets. If you are a cyclist then the endless traffic-free roads will appeal and as keen cyclists ourselves (road and MTB/VTT) then we'd be happy to recommend some routes. Dogs are most welcome as the garden is enclosed, and being in the countryside, there are many walks to discover. Parking is on the road next to Les Papillons, but seeing as there are only 140 people living in the village, and this is a very quiet road, you can rest assured! You will need a car in the area, but car hire can be arranged in Montbard (15 km), where there is also a TGV train station with direct services to Dijon (40 mins) and Paris (1 hour). If you really want to escape the tranquillity you can also take a direct TGV to Disneyland Paris (1 hour). The pool is unheated so it's only available from April through to September.
