The villa Casale La Torre is located in Marciano, a delightful little village just 2 km from Massa Lubrense, in a quiet spot that enjoys the sun all day, and along a stretch of coast that is part of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella, renowned for its beautiful landscape and fascinating history. The villa is next to a little side road, closed to traffic, and faces the sea and its enchanting sunsets. Guests staying at Casale la Torre will need a car during their stay; access to the house is along a country road with reserved parking for three to four cars. As you stroll up a short flight of wide stone steps towards the farmhouse, you can feel yourself returning to a simpler time, far from the challenges of modern life. The farmhouse sits on two terraced levels of land, amidst citrus and olive groves. You arrive on the lower level, where exquisite gardens spread before you. The lawned grounds are extensive, with flowers spilling from pots and the gnarled trunks of trees standing beside the farmhouse as they have for decades. The property has been beautifully restored and is decorated in a gorgeous palate of Mediterranean colours, while outside is a riot of greenery, shrubs, olive trees and rose bushes. The living space Each apartment has its own comfortable living space, dining area and well-equipped kitchen; Il Verde has one double bedroom, one twin, one single, and a bathroom; Corallo has one double and one twin bedroom, plus a bathroom; Primula has one double and one twin bedroom, plus a bathroom. The kitchen, dining area and cosy sofas are in an open-plan space in one apartment so that you can be together while you cook. The other two apartments have kitchen-diners and lovely sun rooms where you can relax and watch TV. The bedrooms and bathrooms Each of the bedrooms is full of character, spacious, clean and tidy. The beds are comfortable, there is plenty of storage space and the views from the windows, whether of the garden or of the sea, are enchanting. Outside space Before you, a small promontory reaches out towards the sea, home to a generous swimming pool (11m x 5m) and a sun room with ample recliners and parasols. The local area The rugged hills above Massa Lubrense offer amazing views of this unspoilt peninsula at every turn and are criss-crossed with paths and tracks through lemon and olive groves, making this fantastic walking country. The house is also ideally situated for guests wishing to go trekking in the Sorrento Peninsula, with hiking routes available along a number of paths: to the Deserto (456 m), Mount S. Costanzo (497 m), from where there are breathtaking views; from Massa Lubrense to Termini (over 6 km of solitary road surrounded by Mediterranean maquis shrubland) and the bay of Ieranto in the heart of the marine-protected area of Punta Campanella. The town of Massa Lubrense – known as the ‘Land of the Sirens’ – is 2 km away on the coast, with scenic, pastel-painted houses perched on the cliffs and boats in the small harbour. The town offers plenty of shopping, eateries and bars, as well as interesting cathedrals and other attractions. Sorrento is a windy 9 km drive away with its narrow, cobbled streets, splendid piazzas and beautiful views over the water to Naples and Mountt Vesuvius.
