Uniquely French Mediaeval Tower (Sleeps 6)
Uniquely French 14th Century Tower in rural village with spiral staircases!
La Tour is a 14th century tower that was once part of the main fortified house in Pressigny. The main house became a Priory around the fifteenth century and the Tower was created to houses nuns or the servants, depending on which story you believe! The Tower is now completely private from the main house, with a separate garden and entrance. The two bedrooms are up separate spiral staircases. The master bedroom is semi circular and has a king sized bed decorated with beautiful drapes. The second bedroom is most suited for children, as it has a low beam under which adults must duck to access two of the four single beds. It is decorated in Harry Potter style, to amuse the children! The kitchen is small but beautiful and seats six. Outside on the terrace there is a large table, where most of the eating is done from March to October, this being the second sunniest region in France! Local attractions include Puy de Fou, just over an hour away (one of Europe's best day's out), and Futuroscope in Poitiers, about 45 minutes away. There are wonderful mediaeval villages - St. Loup is ten minutes away and the mediaeval quarter in Parthenay is really worth a visit. Fontevraud Abby, the resting place of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart is a stunning place to visit with a beautiful village to explore. We have rivers to wander along, great gardens to visit, several of them based on mediaeval themes and of course, the chateaux of the Loire Valley. The Chateau at Chenenceau, built over the river has stunning gardens and is a fabulous place to explore. Once you have rested and relaxed, you have a wealth of places to choose to visit - and the coast at La Rochelle is a great day out too.
