Bon Vivant

Between Honfleur, Pont Audemer, Caen and Rouen, 'Bon Vivant' is located in a small, attractive village and within five minutes walk of a good range of shops including a superb boulangerie, boucherie, delicatessen, fine-dining restaurant, three small bars and a pizzeria. The house is well equipped with TV (some English channels), stereo, games, swings, etc. This is an ideal location for a anyone wanting a quiet location but with many attractions nearby. These include, Honfleur, the Normandy Beaches, D-Day sites, Bayeaux, Rouen, Paris, Monet's Garden and many historic abbeys and places of interest. Locally, there is a large lake at Pont L'Eveque (25 mins) where there is a little beach, swimming area, boat hire, fishing and pedalos. Pont Audemer, locally heralded as the Venice of Normandy, is a lovely medieval town and only 15 mins from the house. There you'll find lots of local restaurants, as well as food shops, bars and a couple of supermarkets. A good spot for an afternoon beer and watch the world buzz around you. Cerza Parc (Ouilly-du-Rouley - 25 mins) is a roomy zoo and a good day out, especially with kids. It has several different walking routes, as well as a cute train. There are loads of lovely beaches nearby, including Deauville and Trouville (35 mins), Houlgate and Cabourg (both 40 mins). There are lots of museums and galleries in the region including: * the excellent Peace Museum (Caen) * the maritime museum (Honfleur) * the Museum of Art (Trouville) * Maison Satie (Honfleur) * Musee des Beaux Arts (Le Havre) You can find swimming pools in Pont Audemer, Honfleur and Bretteville Sur Odon (near Caen) - which is also home to Festyland amusement park. If you'd rather not drive to Paris, then it is only about an hour and a quarter by train from Bernay (25 mins).
