Arts-centric! This apartment over The Artists Hand--an espresso bar and art gallery in downtown Indiana, PA-- is an ideal "base camp" for visiting. Enjoy a complementary espresso drink and bakery item from a friendly barista on us with your stay. During business hours that's where you'll pick up your key. Everything is close by this small town, main street location. An easy walk to the state university, restaurants and pubs, boutique shops, a museum and even a local bakery. This is a walk up from the street entrance vestibule of our art gallery and espresso bar. Guests have sole use of the apartment. A complementary washer/dryer is shared with three other apartments. It is well insulated and therefore quiet, even with an occasional event in the gallery below. The gallery is a social hub of the downtown, and guests enjoy hanging out to talk and view work by 30 local artists on display. Hosts are generally available, and baristas on duty in the gallery can manage most needs quickly. Located on the quaint main street in the small town namesake Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Nearby are The Jimmy Stewart museum and a trail head on the rails-to-trails network in western PA is just out the back door. Locally owned Italian restaurants, American taverns, a Thai bistro and the assortment of pizza places are within three blocks. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the center of IUP's campus with access to many cultural events. Indiana, PA has been recognized as a pedestrian friendly town. There is plenty of pay-per-space, on-street and municipal parking, too. Indi-go bus transportation routes circulate from downtown to area shopping and the university. A bike rack is provided at the rear entrance, and biking is growing in popularity with a regional rails-to-trails trail head just on the block.
