Our 4-room B&B is the perfect couple's retreat, located on a working aquaponics farm on the shores of Lake Michigan. Fresh farm breakfasts are included daily. Laura was part of the second generation to live on the family farm. She and her husband, Otto, raised seven boys and sold milk and cheese. Laura's room features a distressed white birch queen bedroom set, double whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, private bath, and private balcony with a view of the woods and apple orchards. Take in the sunset from your west-facing balcony after a leisurely day of golf or biking. Amenities include Sleep Number Bed, two-person whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, flat-screen TV, and private bath. Guests have access to their room, along with lower level breakfast room with pool table. Nate and Mary Calkins are the 6th generation to run the family farm. They moved to the farm in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and opened the Bed and Breakfast in February of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , in the completely remodeled farm hatchery building. They have 2 children, Marcus and Juliet. Owning and operating the Bed and Breakfast, cottage, event barn, & aquaponics greenhouse is a labor of love. They are both passionate about sustainable agriculture and education. Nate also does consulting for the aquaponics industry and has a background in structural engineering. Mary also works as a school counselor and has a background in psychology. Nate enjoys greeting our guests and giving them a warm welcome, and Mary enjoys cooking our guests a farm fresh breakfast daily. You may also encounter our friendly farm dogs, Daisy & Sparky. In the warmer months, our chickens free range outside in our orchard, and our friendly goats, Calvin and Lionel roam about in their outdoor goat pen. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the farm, visit the animals, play a round of golf, hike our lakefront trail, or relax on our lake deck while reading your favorite book or enjoying a glass of wine. Come for a break from reality. Leave refreshed and grateful. Lake Orchard Farm Retreat is located 8 miles south of Sheboygan, WI. There are a variety of restaurants and shops in downtown Sheboygan, as well as the surrounding communities (Kohler, 10 minutes; Plymouth, 25 minutes; Sheboygan Falls, 15 minutes). The area is known for its golf courses, lakefront beaches and parks, hiking, biking, and recreation trails. Other area attractions include the John Michael Kohler art center, Kohler design center, and Stephanie Weil center. On site parking.
