Conveniently located on picturesque Route 28 in the hamlet of Big Indian, guests can walk to the Belleayre Beach in the summer, only a mile to the famous Peekamoose Restaurant, and numerous local hiking trails. The Full Moon Resort, a popular venue for weddings and parties, is a 10 minute drive. This area of the Catskills is also great for mountain biking, road biking, and trout fishing. There is a one time $50 pet fee per dog up to 21 days, and $100 per dog for stays longer than 21 days. Dogs are not allowed on furniture and particularly not in beds. We ask that pet owners clean up after their dogs both inside and outside the house. BelleHouse offers 2 private bedrooms, both with queen sized beds and access to the back yard deck. A spiral staircase leads to a loft which provides extra sleeping room on a futon mattress. An open floor plan allows for easy entertaining with a fully equipped kitchen, cozy lounge style living room, and dining either at the dining table or the bar style counter. We also offer WiFi, 3 high def TVs, DVDs, central air-conditioning, and central heat. The fenced in backyard (open at the creek) has a large deck, perfect for BBQing on the gas grill, drinking and dining, and sunbathing. Birch Creek flows all year round which is blissful for cooling off in the summer, lounging by in the spring, and gathering at the fire pit in the autumn and winter. PLEASE NOTE: Our backyard is being restored to a native habitat. A local non-profit organization, the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program, selected the BelleHouse for a project called the "Catskill Streams Buffer Initiative." They planted trees, shrubs, and wildflowers to create a wild meadow habitat and to return our creekside to a native state. The non-profit also built walking paths to the creek and to the fire pit, which can now be enjoyed in a more pristine, natural environment. An easy 2 1/2 hours drive from NYC, BelleHouse is the perfect spot for visiting the towns of Phoenicia, Woodstock, and Roxbury, attending the areas many music festivals, farm stands, and spas, and for endless hiking, skiing, biking, motorcycling, fishing, running, walking, swimming, eating, antiquing, and smiling. Guest can access the entire house, the enclosed gated backyard. And feel free to take a dip in the beautiful Birch Creek running right behind the backyard! Our location is central to all Catskill activities. • The house is conveniently situated on the NYC Trailways bus route along Route 28, and the bus will let you off right at our driveway if you tell the driver where to stop. • There is intermittent public transportation. You can flag the bus right from the road. • However, we recommend that you have a car to get around since Catskills activities are widespread. Our housekeeper, Carrie, offers the option of a food and supply service. If you're interested, she can deliver prepared food or groceries, and any other items that you'd like to have in the house for your visit.
