Country Chic South Shore Retreat
My home is said by many to be elegant, warm, inviting, as well as sunny and bright. A combination of classic and modern, minimalist design and a soft color palate reflects the decor and mood of the house. The sofa bed in your guest bedroom has a TemperPedic mattress of the highest quality and considered to be the "Cadillac" of sofa beds. Everyone reports a fabulous night's sleep on this mattress! The grounds feature beautiful landscaping, and the house has a sense of bringing the outside in through big, open windows. Special attention to what makes guests feel welcome and at home is what you'll find here. I am a host who has lived on the south shore of Long Island her whole life and spent much of that life exploring the excitement of Manhattan and Brooklyn as well as the beauty and richness of the North and South forks as far as Montauk and Orient Pt. As a former cooking teacher, I'm especially well versed in all of the wine, beer and culinary destinations the island offers and can recommend shopping, art and special events to help guests get a full appreciation of this rich and vibrant island area. I bring my own interests, passions, and travel experiences into the detailed appointments of my home and sharing that ambience with guests is much of what makes a stay here memorable and unique. Breakfasts are a high point of your stay as I am an accomplished home cook whose specialty is baking. When offered, breads, scones, muffins, as well as handmade jams and preserves are of the highest quality and made from local Long Island farm ingredients. During their stay, guests do not have access to other parts of the house. Only the bedroom and bathroom are available. Guests are free to use the front porch, however, as well as the back deck. This is a quiet, residential neighborhood close to the charming town of Sayville, the Fire Island Ferries, the Sayville train station, the Patchogue brewery, the small McLoughlin Vineyard, and several notable restaurants. It is ideal for walking, biking and scenic car rides along the coast. From here, it is direct to Manhattan or to all points on the east end, such as the Hamptons, the LI vineyards, and the charming farmlands of the North Fork. You are close to MacArthur Airport, the Long Island Railroad, and an hour's drive from Kennedy Airport. The house is only available to Air B&B guests; visitors, gatherings, parties are not allowed.
