The Red Cottage at Buck's Crossing

This home has been in our family since it was built in 1962. Our family came up early in the fifties and felt very fortunate to find this refuge. It's named Bucks Crossing after the Buckwold family and there are a lot of Bucks Crossing at this point. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and a good book while lobsters are cooking is just about everyone's favorite thing to do here. Lobsters can be gotten locally and we have all the pots you need. You can pick wild blueberries, raspberries, and check out Fred's vegetable garden. We are all about making memories. In 2018 we added a firepit that people seemed to enjoyed enormously. We are on site in the building in the back of the property, and can help with any of your needs This is a great place to come back to after your trip to Acadia (3 hours away) or to Camden (30-40 minutes). This is a true working fishing village that gives the sense of Maine the way it always has been. Drift Inn Beach offers great swimming for families (2 miles down the peninsula), and kayaking is available, with rentals in Port Clyde if you don't bring your own. You'll need a car. If you bring your boat, you can launch it at the town dock. Talk to us about mooring options. Blankets and comforters are provided. Sheets and towels for those traveling from away. There is a charge for these and we just need to know your wishes to set you up appropriately.You will find basic kitchen and bath supplies available. Our cottage is a three season cottage. Our heat is via wood stove. There is a great wood stove available and wood is supplied. The cottage also has limited handicapped accessibility. There is a ramp entry and the bath can accommodate a walker. Generally we are open from late May until mid October. Contact us for more information.
