This cottage is in a private setting surrounded by nature, a perfect place to relax and unwind. Yet, you are just a couple of blocks from downtown Ferndale, there you will find shops, restaurants, live theatre, music venues and friendly merchants. Among the many services is a pharmacy, grocery, liquor store and laundromat. For those who like to hike the hiking trails are abundant and nearby. Cottage is newly built, in a private setting which gets the early morning sun. Enjoy your morning coffee on the sun warmed deck. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, queen bed, loveseat with pull-out single bed, bathroom (shower only), wireless internet, Blu-ray/dvd player and off-street parking. State-of-the-art HRV (heat recovery ventilator) which provides fresh air warmed by outgoing air, a feature you will enjoy and not even notice. The private entrance to the cottage is accessed from the rear of the driveway, through a gate, and along a lighted pathway to the front entrance of the cottage. We respect your privacy but are available either in person, by phone, text or email . Booking fees includes a 10% tax charged by the City of Ferndale. Humboldt Botanical Garden, College of the Redwoods and Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge approximately 15 miles to the north. Another 10 miles to Eureka, then another 5 miles to Arcata and Humboldt State University. A bit further north the freeway borders the ocean. Entrance to the Avenue of the Giants (state highway 254) is 15 miles to the south. The Avenue is just under 50 miles long and winds along the Eel River and through the giant Redwoods. Midway is Burlington State Park and Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive and Visitor Center. Humboldt Redwood Co. offers a free fisheries exhibit, the largest freshwater aquarium on the north coast. Redwood Empire Golf & Country Club and Redwood Memorial Hospital across Fernbridge to Fortuna. To see the Redwood Forest, visit the Avenue of the Giants. A scenic 31 mile drive which winds around the Eel River. Its southern entrance can be accessed near Phillipsville, then Miranda next is Myers Flat should you miss the exit. The northern exit, will bring you back to 101 and is located near Scotia and only 15 miles to the Fernbridge/Ferndale exit. Hwy 211. Fireman’s Park, a block away, provides a children’s playground, picnic tables, baseball field and Bocci Ball Courts. Forest hiking trails are 4 blocks away at Russ Park. 105 acres of Sitka Spruce and Grand Fir trees. Pacific Ocean is only 15 minute away. Drive past the ocean and up to the top of the hill there you will find walking trails leading to the ocean. Or access the beach from the area below. Ferndale is designated as California Historical Landmark No. 883. It is known for it’s well preserved Victorian Architecture.
