Private Cabin in the Woods near river
Perfect for cozy stays away from it all -- including self-isolating during the COVID-19 crisis, our comfortable cabin has its own private entrance, skylight, wood-burning fireplace stove, pure well water, and a private bathroom with shower room all just steps from the river, great walks, history, and outdoor sports. No contact with the host is necessary & this fully separate space can be left untouched & un-entered for days before arrival to ensure no contamination of the space and surfaces. Very near the Sudbury River just a 30-minute drive from Boston and Cambridge, we have a 2-room private cabin with its own entrance and enclosed breezeway veranda attached to one end of our house. Paneled in solid pine, it is rustic in look but newly constructed with up-to-date facilities including central heating, a new wood-burning stove, a shower room in the private bath, a skylight, and a "breeze-way" veranda. The standard-size double bed sleeps two comfortably and there is an empty closet in the entry hall for your things. (Please note: There are red curtains on all the windows. The photos were taken when a set of curtains was down being cleaned.) There is also a twin bed in the breezeway, which can either be used as a day-bed or as a separate space for an additional guest in your group to spend the night. (There is a door between the bedroom and breezeway.) Guests have their own entrance leading to two rooms and a bathroom all to themselves. If you're looking for privacy, a break, or a retreat of any kind, this is the spot. If you want to be able to cook big meals, then it's not. There is no kitchen or kitchen access. Sometimes I am around and available in person, sometimes not. It all depends on when you stay and for how long because my schedule is ever-changing. Ideal for a weekend getaway from Boston, canoeing and kayaking on the river, hiking and cycling, and local history tours, there are numerous attractions nearby. The Sudbury River, Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, and the Pantry Brook Wildlife Area are within walking distance (5 min or less). Thoreau's Walden Pond, the Old North Bridge, Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, the Decordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Hawthorne's Old Manse, the Louisa May Alcott House, Longfellow's Wayside Inn, and the historic Revolutionary War battle fields of Concord and Lexington are all within a 15-minute drive. Most guests use a car when they come to stay but a few guests have used car services or cycled to and from the commuter train station in Lincoln, which is 2 and a half miles away (where there is also a post office and a large grocery store). The train from Lincoln goes into Boston and Cambridge. WiFi, towels, linens, blankets are all provided as well as an electric kettle, a microwave oven, and a small selection of teas, coffee, cocoa, and hot cereal for breakfast in the breezeway room off the bedroom. There is also a cooler for perishable snacks and food. (Ice can usually be provided upon request.) If you have a child or a third guest, the trundle-bed sofa in the room easily works as a bed for small adults and any child who's 4 or older. There is also a separate twin bed in the breezeway if guests prefer separate beds or you're coming as a group of 3 or 4. Of course, either the trundle bed or the twin can be used as a day bed for afternoon naps or place to read a book.
