This artist-renovated 2 bedroom loft apartment, full of locally-made furniture, is in the emerging Elk City arts district of Charleston. Two bedrooms, large bathroom, perfect hosting kitchen, and a backyard and firepit available for guests. Above MAKESHOP, a locally-run makerspace, you'll enjoy beautiful sunsets and be in the perfect spot to walk around Charleston - 5 minutes from the river and the Civic Center, steps away from artist shops and coffee + restaurants, a 10 minute walk downtown. Our two bedroom loft apartment was recently renovated out of a 100 year old brick trophy shop building, designed and built by women, and furnished with locally made works from welders, carpenters, cabinet makers, and furniture builders. The apartment is above a design studio and makerspace that hosts pop-ups, musicians, and workshops. The apartment space is open designed with lots of natural light and a beautiful sunset that takes over the apartment. This apartment is one of two apartments above two downstairs storefront spaces. You'll have access to your entire apartment, the backyard, and the makeshop co-working space. If you want to enjoy the backyard, please firmly close the door behind you from the back stairwell for safety. We’re very responsive and happy to help with any issues! In Elk City, you'll find Kin Ship Goods, a local screen-printing shop with all the West Virginia gear you'll need; BaseCamp Printing, a letterpress studio that sometimes offers workshops; VOID, our local coffee shop; Gonzo Burgers (vegan option, vintage bar dating back to the Worlds Fair!); Mi Cocina, and The Grill (the local-ist staple and best cornbread); Tudors Biscuits (best biscuits in WV), Elk City Records (for the best vintage record collection ever), and lots of other start-up shops to check out. Five minute walk to the riverfront walk and bike path, five minutes to the Civic Center for events, 15 minute walk to downtown Charleston, 5 minute drive to 5 corners for the best Dem 2 Brothers BBQ in WV, 10 minute drive to hikes and recreation to Coonskin, Kanawha State Forest, or Carriage Trail. Lots of street parking available around the neighborhood. Bus picks up in front of the flower shop around the corner, and downtown is very walkable and bikeable along the riverfront walk and bike path.
