The Lodge is located right around the corner from the main entrance to the Indiana Dunes National Park's "West Beach" recreation area. The home boasts a rustic, restful lodge-style décor. The exterior has all the charm of a historic Cape Cod style home, but with the completion of a near total gut-rehab renovation in 2018, the inside now has amazingly modern, high-end features! Once you enter the Lodge, you will be astonished by the brand-new chef's kitchen with imported granite countertops, black stainless steel Samsung appliances, breakfast bar and peninsula and the adjoining dining room with its beautiful stained glass Tiffany chandelier! The Lodge also has two brand-new, spa quality bathrooms each with high-end Kohler fixtures. The hall bath has a gorgeous walk-in shower enclosure with a rain shower, hand shower and natural stone mosaics on the floor and walls. The master suite features a luxuriously large bathroom with a European-style, bathing area, Carrera marble and a gorgeous modern deep soaking tub! The HUGE walk-in shower with rain shower, hand shower and three body sprays will make you and your guests feel like you are at a luxury spa resort! On top of all that, the nearly half-acre backyard features a heated in-ground swimming pool, two pool-side lounge areas, two outdoor dining areas and an outdoor fire pit. Once you visit Bayless Dune Lodge, you won't want to leave! Guest have full access to the house, pool and yard which is nearly half an acre of property directly adjacent to the Bayless Dune Nature Preserve. The Pool is open for swimming roughly from Memorial Day (end of May) to the second week of October, (weather permitting, of course). It is the closest beach/resort community to Chicago and has been a popular vacation spot since the late 19th century. Over the years, Miller Beach has retained its artsy, bohemian, beach town vibe which has made it a favorite weekend and summer vacation destination. Miller Beach borders Lake Michigan to the north and is surrounded on all other sides by absolutely gorgeous protected lands and hiking trails of the Indiana Dunes National Park. First settled in 1851, Miller Beach was originally an independent town. However, the "Town of Miller" was eventually annexed by the neighboring city of Gary, Indiana. Today, the Miller Beach Community is considered part of Gary, Indiana. However, Miller Beach is actually 5 miles east of Gary and it is cut off from the rest of the city by the Indiana Dunes National Park, which totally surrounds the Miller Beach community. Miller Beach is directly adjacent to the neighboring towns of Ogden Dunes and Portage and has more in common with its lakefront and duneland neighbors to the east. There is an age requirement for renting this property just like at a car rental businesses. In order to book this property, potential renters must be above the age of 25 and have a valid, official government-issued ID on file with Airbnb. FIREPLACE DISCLAMER: NOTICE - ABSOLUTELY NO FIRES INSIDE THE HOUSE! The two indoor fireplaces in the Lodge are simply decorative. They are not functional either for wood burning or for gas fires. Each fireplace is equipped with an electric light and logs set up which mimics the ambiance, glow and flicker of a lit fireplace. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE LIGHT A REAL FIRE inside either of the fireplaces as that could very likely burn the house down! There is however an outdoor firepit for guests to have bonfires if they like.
