Nestled in the mountainside of Lama, NM, (Questa) surrounded by a covered deck, this intimate one-room cabin with bed loft will lift you out of any city mode, and set you into a serene place. We are located within the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, 30 minutes to Taos Ski Valley & Taos, and at the Gateway to the Rio Grande del Norte Monument. With scenic drives, skiing, hiking, picnicking, biking, fishing, and spectacular starry skies, you'll understand why it's called the "Land of Enchantment." - The cabin sits at +/- 8,200 feet elevation. - The cabin is surrounded by national forest as well as our property. It is situated about 200 feet from the main house, which is occupied by the hosts. The cabin is about 350 square feet with a loft. Bed is in the loft. It has a wrap-around deck/porch. 1-2 guests fit perfectly. The space is NOT suitable for 12-year olds and younger. - Absolutely NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES! No candles or open flames. We live in an area that is designated high fire risk. - Hosts live on the premises. - Guests have access to the cabin area only - not the main house. I am available to assist you with you visit. I am here for you, or give you as much space as you need. - Our neighborhood is quiet. - We are close to the Lama Foundation. - The closest town is 6 miles north of us - Questa. There is a small grocery store and a gas station there. The Questa Super Market is across the street from the Chevron Gas Station. - ALL-WHEEL DRIVE is suggested for winter months. - In summer months, beautiful hiking trails all in the near vicinity. - You can pull back to the cabin in your vehicle to load and unload. During your stay, please park in our parking area where we park our cars and walk to the cabin (+/- 200 feet). Our road back to the cabin is incomplete, and it can get very muddy if driving. Thank you for your understanding. - There are easy, medium, and moderate hiking trails all very close to the cabin. - Taos Ski Valley is an approximately 30 minute car ride from the cabin. Red River is about a 30 minute drive. Both drives are beautifully scenic. - Hosts live on the premises. - We have dogs that can bark at night if there are coyotes and/or bear in the vicinity. Most nights are quiet, but please be aware that dogs may bark at night. - Absolutely NO SMOKING on the premises. No candles or open flames. We live in an area that is designated high fire risk. Please respect this request. - The bed is situated in the loft. Please make sure that you are comfortable with climbing the ladder to the loft. - Water is precious here on the mountain. Please practice restraint when running water. - MOUNTAIN LIVING! In winter months an ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE is suggested. We try and keep up with the plowing, but we don't have chains to pull you out if your vehicle gets stuck. If you don't have all-wheel drive, you can park at the end of our driveway and walk to the cabin. - Bear are active in the summer months. Our dogs keep them at bay, but ALWAYS be mindful that bear are close by. Never leave food or trash outside. - Sorry, no hunters. - Sorry, no pets.
