The luxurious Pool House is located in the centrally located, historic Arbor District. A 900 sq foot cottage on 3/4 acre of fenced grounds next to our main house, it has a gourmet kitchen, washer dryer, King Sized Danish bed, upstairs game room, dedicated WiFi, a queen size futon couch/bed in the common area and a 50,000 gallon, unheated, swimming pool. We've recently added a Finnish sauna and a Japanese Ofuro all cedar soaking tub. We accept well behaved pets for a fee of $35 per day. During the Coronavirus emergency we require a minimum of 2 days between guests. During this time we thoroughly clean and sanitize the house, sauna, hot tub and pool. A TV in the bedroom and a 55" TV upstairs have ethernet connections to the cable internet, for maximum reliability. Bed linens are high thread count pima cotton percale sheets with hypoallergenic down alternative comforters with microfiber duvets. Terrycloth robes are provided. The kitchen is stocked with herbs, condiments, oils, and other cooking essentials. A full set of tri-ply stainless cookware, baking dishes, and kitchen tools are provided. The Pool House has a 50,000 gallon in-ground unheated pool. We maintain the pool year round for the winter experience of Sauna/Pool/Hot Tub experience. There is a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking. Central to SIUC, Memorial Hospital, and Downtown, the Pool House has dedicated parking and a private guest entrance. The Pool House ground floor was designed with wide doors to be accessible for wheel chairs and walkers. A concrete path and short ramp lead from the parking spot to the front door. There is, however, one step up to the porch. The Pool House has been inspected by City Neighborhood Services and the Carbondale Fire Department for health and safety. It passed all of the inspections and has been issued Carbondale Vacation Rental License No. VRU-20-02. Your hosts are Jane, retired professor of anthropology, and D., retired photojournalist for the New York Times. Your hosts are available for guidance about things to see and do in the region and other information guests may need. A short drive west on Illinois 13 (Main Street) takes you to Murdale with a marvelous International Grocery, the Neighborhood Coop (natural foods), a green grocer, and, in the adjoining West Town Mall, the 42-year old Saturday morning Farmers' Market. The mall area with big box stores is equally close on Illinois 13 East (Walnut St.). The Shawnee Hills and Wine Trail lie just south of town. The SIU-City bus stops a half block away on Poplar Street. An easy walk goes to SIUC, Memorial Hospital, Downtown, and Schnucks, a full-service, 24-hour grocery store. House Rules Check-in time 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Check-out: 11:00 a.m Smoking is allowed on the porch, not in the Pool House itself. Please use ashtrays provided. The Pool House is in a residential neighborhood, so parties and events are not allowed, and quiet outside after 10:00 p.m. required. Children under 18 may swim in the pool only when accompanied by an adult. Inform hosts if people other than registered guests will be visiting. Outside, use paper or plastic only for eating and drinking. (The porch is "inside".) Do not alter or add electronics connections to the TVs and other electronics. There will be a $100 fee for damaged connections.
