The House at Creek Corner

The House at Creek Corner is a tranquil, creekside family home. It has fantastic access to hiking trails, and swimming holes in the warmer months and is 30mins drive to the ski slopes in the winter. The house comfortably sleeps 6, with open living spaces inside and a deck for dining overlooking the private creek making it ideal for entertaining. The kitchen is perfect for cooking family meals and is fully equipped with tools and appliances. For outside cooking there is a large gas grill and a fire-pit for those cooler nights roasting marshmallows. The handmade, rustic wooden dining table seats up to 8, as does the outside dining table on the wisteria-covered deck. The mud room is perfect for storing snow boots, skis and plenty of firewood on a chilly night for the wood burning stove in the living room. The downstairs main bath, has been recently renovated and has a soaking bathtub and shower. The upstairs en-suite bathroom has a large rain-head shower, and laundry area. The two main bedrooms are in opposite sides of the house allowing guests to have privacy in this otherwise open-plan house. A third bedroom downstairs can be used as a twin or made into large queen bed. Owner available via phone and email during your stay and is often in the local area should you need anything. The pretty village of West Shokan has a swimming pool, park and playground, library and wonderful cafe and ice cream store, Marty's all within walking distance or a short drive from the house. Also close by is the town of Woodstock (20mins), Kingston (30mins), Stone Ridge (30mins), Rosendale (40mins) and Phoenicia (20mins). All have excellent restaurants, cafes and local markets. Belleayre and Hunter Mountain for skiing, snow tubing are 30mins from the house. A car is highly recommended to make the most of your time in the area. The nearest Trailways bus from NYC stops in Kingston or Woodstock. Just a few minutes up the road is the Kanape trailhead that follows the creeks up to the top of High Point Mountain. Many other excellent hikes are close-by and a hiking guide is a well-thumbed book available at the house.
