Neuse River House, Serenity Room

A bright, welcoming twin bedded room awaits you at Neuse River House which is the perfect location to visit all of Oriental's attractions. The twin bedded Serenity Room is above all, a quiet, peaceful, respite. A get away from it all, comfortable space in an upstairs alcove of the house which is completely private from the living space. The guests are encouraged to make full use of the outdoor space with panoramic water views from the outside porch deck (for sitting, sipping, people, dog, boat, or just water watching). Also outside are the flower gardens. Unfortunately, Florence’s visit in the fall of 2018 has forever changed our landscape. The swing under the magnificent magnolia tree is no longer as it came down with that ancient tree. The flower gardens are making a slow comeback after having been under brackish water for some time. But all is still well and beautiful. Getting to know my guests is one of my favorite things to do as a host. A glass of wine on the porch deck and conversation. I give my guests space if that is their choice as well Our home is situated in the "heart" of old Oriental where the victorian homes along the river front were built and occupied by Roper LumberCompany execs. Many of the homes have been renovated or restored to their original grandeur. From the privacy of our porch deck behind the privet hedge you can be privy to weddings, Croaker Fest, the dog parade, drum circle, O'l Front Porch music festival and any event held at Lou Mac Park including a Sunday church service in summer. As one quest put it, "walking a very short distance will bring you to all you may need in Oriental" At Neuse River House There are 2 parking spaces beside each other. One can accommodate a boat and trailer. Street parking is also available. Oriental is an easy walking and biking area. Town boat launch ramp is minutes away and has kayak launching as well I have a territorial, shy cat that likes people but not other animals in her space so no dogs allowed. A very friendly cat has recently been added to the family
