The Crane's Nest Farmhouse ~ THE LOOKOUT

“The Lookout” is a spacious, private room (with lock and key) and lovely views of rolling pastureland. It feature’s a cozy sitting area next to windows which flank two walls and a private bathroom . The twin beds can be made into a king upon request. It is in a newly renovated 1800’s farmhouse (The Crane’s Nest ) and has been specifically designed for our guests comfort and enjoyment. Nestled on 12 acres and across from a 186 acre horse farm “The Lookout” in the Crane’s Nest Farmhouse offers idyllic views of rolling pastureland and country life. A gentle stroll down the road will land you at a wonderful secluded beach voted second best by “The Best of the Rivah 2019”. During your stay here you can truly relax and unwind, breathing in the spaciousness of country living . And if you so desire, just a short drive away, you can explore Deltaville, Urbanna, Kilmarnock, WhiteStone, and Gloucester enjoying river adventure , Seafood Dining, Antique hunting, and soaking in the rich heritage of Life on and around the “Rivah” . There is a sign on the wall that says “Make yourself at home “ and that is exactly what we hope you do. There is a lovely sunroom that greets you as you enter the front door. It is a favorite place for sipping coffee in the morning . Through French doors (which once graced the ballroom of an 1800’s estate, is a parlor with a sitting area and desk for your use and beyond that a Great room, with Roku tv sitting area, a lovely open dining room (off of which is a sliding glass door opening to a large deck) and a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with coffee and tea bar and wood burning stove. Off the sitting room is a large laundry room with washer/dryer, iron and ironing board, utility sink, extra shower and toilet. Jason, our son and property manager lives on the premises (in his own quarters). He will be available to address any questions you may have and to assure that your stay is safe, comfortable and enjoyable. He will occasion the kitchen and laundry room but will be ever mindful and respectful of your right to spaciousness and privacy. Again, although we thoroughly enjoy the peace and quiet of country living in Wake, we also enjoy all that the surrounding communities have to offer! Truly, we have the best of both worlds here! Being nestled in the country, a car is necessary for getting around.
