The Outlier Inn is a bucolic 12-acre farm in NY’s southern Catskill mountains, 90 miles from NYC. We offers a peaceful, inspiring break from life in the Big City. Our sheep, goats, alpacas, and chickens are accessible to guests as well as our Barn Shop, which sells local goods and produce. There are a total of 13 rental listings on the property and we offer full property rentals to groups. For individuals, we guarantee a private experience even when there are other guests on-site. The 1953 Spartenette Trailer located at the Outlier Inn in the Catskill Mountains is fully restored, cozy and super cute! It sleeps 4 in two twin beds and one full bed. There is running, drinkable water in the kitchen and the bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower. Trailer guests are invited to use the nearby outdoor kitchen for their cooking needs. We are located on a farm in beautiful Sullivan County, close to Bethel Woods, the Catskill Park, Neversink Unique Area and Sam's Point. We are located 2 miles from the hamlet of Mountaindale with cute shops and restaurants, which is within walking distance via the rails-to-trails across the road. There are many animals on the farm and guests are encouraged to interact with them. We have merino sheep, angora goats, alpacas, chickens (running free so please leash dogs!), two cats and a dog named Beulah. We also have a greenhouse and vegetable garden, a barn shop selling local produce and wares, a pond for swimming, and a lake across the street. There is a full-service recording studio on the premises as well! The studio is a separate listing so please let us know if you are interested :) Guests are encouraged to explore the 12 acre property, relax by the pond, cuddle the alpacas, sheep, and goats, and go for a hike on the 6 mile rails-to-trails path across the street. There is access to a communal outdoor fire pits (wood is available for purchase), a 6 burner outdoor stove and grill, a hot double outdoor shower and an outhouse. High-speed internet is provided in the communal areas. The town of Mountaindale is 2 miles from the Inn and you can purchase groceries, wine and sundry items there. Our own eggs and vegetables are available for purchase in the Barn Shop along with other local items and wares. We will greet you and give you a tour of the property upon your arrival. The listings are open; no key necessary! If you will be arriving at a late hour, we will greet you in the morning! If you have any questions about the property please ask. The Inn is located directly across from Silver Lake and guests can access the 6 mile long rail trail for an easy hike. We are just down the road from the hamlet of Mountaindale, with it's cute shops and restaurants. We are very close to many hikes, waterfalls, and swimming spots. Sullivan County was the site of hundreds of Borscht Belt hotels and resorts, which had their heyday from the 1920s through the 1970s. When air travel became more attainable, the area's tourist industry declined and left many camps and resorts vacant. Recently, many artists and small farmers have moved into the area and are working to bring it back culturally and economically. The county is extremely diverse with a mixed population that is similar to that of the South Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. The natural offerings given by this area are prized by residents. There are hikes that will lead you to rivers, waterfalls and look-out points. Lakes are everywhere and offer great fresh water swimming. The Basha Kill wetland is the largest wetland (over 3,000 acres) in southeastern New York and is home to a diverse population of wildlife and plants. Many beautiful and sustainable farms are close-by and welcome visitors. Information can be found in the guidebook. We recommend renting a car to get to the property. It is the easiest method of transportation and gives you the freedom to explore the natural offerings of the area. The Neversink Unique Area, Sam's Point, and many farms and farmers markets are close-by and make great day trips. If public transportation is the only option, you can take the New Jersey Transit to Otisville, NY and then take a taxi to Woodridge. Four Eigths Transportation is the taxi service available in Otisville. The estimated taxi cost is around $50. We recommend calling to pre-arrange your pick-up. The Shortline Bus from Port Authority stops in Monticello and also makes a few stops in Woodridge. Tickets cost around $30 each way. Bus schedule NY to Monticello: 8am, 10:15am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm, 11pm Monticello to NY: 5am, 6am, 8am, 10:30am, 1pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, 10pm NY to Woodridge: 1:15pm, 2:30pm, 3:10pm, 4:30pm Woodridge to NY: 7am, 9:30am, 5:15pm If you arrive into Monticello we suggest calling Yellow Cab to bring you to the farm. If you want to relax in a rural environment and experience a food-based, makers community then this is the place for you. The property has multiple dwellings and many shared spaces. We often host yoga retreats and have musicians recording in our full music studio. Please ask us if you would like to know what is happening during your stay.
