Forest & Farm Retreat ~ Jamison House on privately owned 5 acres bordering Plumas National Forest... Tucked away deep in the heart of Upstate California, adjacent to the nationally registered Wild & Scenic Middle Fork of the Feather River and Western Pacific Railway, awaits one of the most unique travel destinations you will find anywhere. Book early for a "sneak peek" of what is to become The Forts @ Forest & Farm. Operating under special use permit, this beautiful space is being transformed from a single-family living situation to a multi-use luxury retreat sanctuary. This Dream Project was created out of the owner's desire to intentionally "live and work creatively, in a new and sustainable way." The recently remodeled Gold Rush inspired Jamison House completes Phase One construction. This is a great place for two couples or a family of four to relax and unwind - especially suited for animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy hiking, fishing, mountain biking and a multitude of winter sports (snowshoeing-snowmobiling-sledding) amidst the gorgeous Alpine Vistas and surrounding pristine lakes. Walking distance from the property is a well-worn path into the Plumas National Forest. Upon request (and if available,) Tim & Leslie will happily guide guests to some of their favorite locations - dubbed namesakes like Juniper Portal, Stargazing Plateau, and Leaning Tower of Treesa are sure to become treasured spots for visitors. A 10 minute walk from Jamison House lands vacationers at the stunning Feather River, an awesome place to explore the Wild & Scenic Middle Fork where wildlife abounds, hidden swimming spots await, and the wide open space simply begs visitors to contemplate and BREATHE IN the High Sierra mountain air. Jamison House is exceptionally situated to serve a wide variety of hobbies and interests, see the list below of what's available within a 30 minute time-frame, either walking or driving. However, in addition to all that nature has to offer, there are a surprising number of local special events occurring regularly year-round. Check out the various websites for information on the following: mountain biking the "Downieville Classic," Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship - kayaking, birding, and stargazing with the Feather River Land Trust - the Plumas-Sierra County Fair - yoga classes @ Trails Within - the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy - mineral hot springs @ Sierra Hot Springs - Great American Craft Fairs in Graeagle - The Mohawk Valley Independence Day celebration, also in Graeagle - Railroad Days celebration in Portola - High Sierra Hoe Down in Johnsville - The Gravel Grinder @ Lake Davis - local Farmer's Markets - Gold Days in Plumas Eureka State Park - horseback riding in Graeagle and Gold Lake - Sierra Valley Art & Ag weekend - and The Brewing Lair are just a few examples of what's happening within 30 minutes of the Jamison House. The Eastern Plumas Chamber is also a great site for checking the year-round local schedule of events. There are currently two homes and one studio on this lovely property - guests ALSO have full-access to the 36x48' three-stall Horse Barn, complete with individual paddocks-heated automatic waterers-and crossties. A 60x100' riding arena is available for equestrian use, and guests are welcome to (seasonally) harvest from the greenhouse...AND collect their own chicken eggs from the 15 resident hens. This is an animal-lover's paradise! Various animal interactions are available by request - please inquire about horse boarding availability and animal-sitting services, as additional fees apply. Completely Pet-Friendly. Coming Soon to Jamison House: Attached "porch sleep," which will sleep 2 more guests, and a white-picket fence enclosing the front yard. Construction underway. Phase Two construction of Forest & Farm (2019) will tout one additional cabin with "porch sleep" and greenhouse, a Tree House, Leslie's Lavender Garden (complete with related hand-crafted essential oil products,) an EARTHING PATH, and animal interactions galore (think Goat Yoga & Equine Therapy.) Phase Three (estimated completion 2020-21) brings everything together with a new wood-beam barn, expansive decking, outdoor pizza oven/bar area, and industrial type kitchen. Nicely suited for wedding venues, private/corporate retreats, workshops, classes, reunions, and community events (Farmer's Markets - Fall Festival - Winter Jubilee - Solstice Celebrations, etc.) The Forts @ Forest & Farm will offer enchanting gathering spaces at affordable prices - visitors are encouraged to book early to reserve their special dates! Visit us on Facebook for project updates, blogs, video, and additional photos~Forest and Farm, LLC. Although Forest & Farm is a work-in-progress, rest assured that during your stay at Jamison House there will be Peace & Quiet (minus perhaps the occasional rooster's crow!) and guests will feel free to drop into the flow of what owner's Tim and Leslie consider to be a "new type of nature-based vacation model." The organizing principle behind Forest & Farm centers around authentically connecting with the surrounding land in a mindful, eco-sustainable way, while practicing & sharing with guests - if they so desire - a healthful and balanced living style (unique to the Forest & Farm property) that supports, uplifts, and honors our worldwide community. As such, we probably are NOT your typical VRBOers, so please reserve accordingly. Forest & Farm Retreat is rapidly transforming itself into an intimate, niche-type getaway, so it is recommended that you promptly reserve your vacation if your interests include eco-rejuvenation, nature-immersion, and Farm-To-Fork experiences. Tim & Leslie live on-site, along with many of their four-legged friends. At its core, Forest & Farm reflects quintessential Farm Life situated in a mixed-conifer Forest Setting. We prefer to think of guests as welcome friends here, and are looking forward to meeting you!
