Peter and I recently bought and renovated this 1790 farmhouse which sits on a sloping hill overlooking Minisink Battleground Park. You can walk off the deck, across the lawn and explore 50 acres of beautiful trails. On a private road, the house has plenty of peace and quiet. There are two charming bedrooms, two full baths, a cozy living room, sun room (third bedroom), fully stocked kitchen, and laundry room. We've loved making these rooms a bit more modern while keeping the farmhouse vibe. The farmhouse is nestled a mile above Rt. 97. Scaling the Delaware River, it is one of the most scenic drives in NY. A private road leads to the farmhouse so you'll have complete peace and quiet. The property enjoys an amazing variety of birds, including bald eagles. The 50 acre park is filled with moss lined trails leading to Revolutionary battleground sites, rock dwellings that Native Americans took shelter in thousands of years ago, and plenty of wildlife. A mile down the road is the Delaware River and 3 river outfitters which rent out canoes, kayaks and rafting. The Master Bedroom is spacious with a vaulted ceiling, Queen size bed and writing desk. The Little Bedroom is snug and cozy with a Full Size bed. There is also a full bath upstairs. Downstairs includes a living room with a record player and 55" tv, a sun room which is enclosed and may sleep two, a kitchen overlooking a wood deck and the park, another full bath, mudroom, and laundry room. The deck has a Weber BBQ and plenty of seating with deck lights for evening enjoyment. We've recently built a firepit using stones from our property. There is also a double hammock in the rock garden. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, coffee, coffee maker, olive oil and spices. We have all new appliances. The laundry room has a new washer and dryer. All cleaning supplies are provided as well as toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer.) We have WiFi and Apple TV. Good for couples, solo adventures, artists, families, wildlife lovers. There are two parking spaces in front of the house. Rt. 97 is a mile down the hill and will get you to Barryville (3 miles) and Narrowsburg (10 miles). We're always a phone call or text away and will respond asap Several river tour companies operate during the summer on Rt. 97 just down the road from us. Along with kayaking and rafting, fly fishing is very popular. Barryville, three miles from us, is a charming little town where there is a general store, gas station, diner, the Carriage House Hotel and bar, the infamous Sticket Inn and Bang Bang Bar. The Ten Mile River is a seven minute drive and a great place to take a dip on a hot summer day. Skinners Falls is a 15 minute drive north on Rt. 97 and one of our favorite places to lay on a rock in the middle of the Delaware River:) The area is dotted with watering holes, creeks, lakes, and nature trails. Bald eagles regularly fly over the Delaware River. Narrowsburg, a ten minute drive, has The Laundrette, The Heron Restaurant, and Bar Veloce from the East Village, all great places to eat. A little further up the Delaware are Callicoon and Cochecton, also charming towns with fun bars, restaurants and cafes. In the winter, Big Bear Ski Resort on Masthope Mountain in Pennsylvania is an easy 7 mile drive. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (home of the historic 1969 Woodstock Festival) is 19 miles north and Resorts World Catskills Casino is 30 miles north of us. Please visit our Guidebook for a full listing of things to do in the area. From NYC, it's 93 miles. The drive is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes depending on traffic. The Port Jervis line is a train going from Penn Station to Port Jervis which is a half hour drive from house. There is also a bus from Port Authority to Monticello, NY which is a half hour drive from house.
