Enjoy the ability to camp in solitude--not surrounded by RVs and other campers. Campers will need to bring their own tents, camping gear, and firewood. The campsite at Locust Grove features lush grass and flowering trees--making for beautiful spring and fall views and cool summers. The space includes a fire pit, an electric light post that includes two outlets, free WIFI, and shared use of the full bath inside. Naturists, lifestyle, etc welcome -- message host to answer any questions. Locust Grove is an 1850s farm in the midst of being restored to her former glory. The homestead features an artesian spring, wild raspberry and blackberry thickets, an abundance of native flowering trees, a chestnut barn, gardens and an apiary. I do have one mostly-outdoor cat, who is very tame and friendly, that will mill around the property and occasionally sleeps in the enclosed porch. Feel free to play with her, but if she's bother you just let the host know and he will try to keep her away! Though camping, guests can access the shared restroom in the house as well as the kitchen--although we ask that you only use the kitchen as necessary as the host and indoor guests will also need it. Limited camping gear (hotdog sticks, etc) may be available. Please check with the host in advance if possible. Please note that you will not be able to park beside the campsite. Parking is below the house, near the garage, while camping is behind the house (as seen in photographs). It is not a large or difficult hill, but may not be ideal for all. The host lives in the farmhouse, and therefore will be present--however the camping area is only visible from the kitchen and remains relatively private. The host can give guests as much space as they like, but is more than happy to socialize with guests as well. Locust Grove is surrounded by private fields and forests. Other than the host, you're more likely to see turkey, deer, red-tail hawks, squirrels and rabbits more than you are other humans. Being a rural area, there are no enforced quiet hours or alcohol policies (unlike most campgrounds) but noise can travel on the hill so please be considerate of distant neighbors. There is no public transportation in the area, so you'll need a car or at the very least a bike. The host can provide a visitors guide with maps with advanced notice. Please note that the only amenities provided by the host are toilet paper and hand soap. As with traditional campgrounds, guests will be required to bring their own linens, towels, pillows, firewood, etc. Host is happy to accommodate most unique requests (lifestyle choices, etc), feel free to message with any concerns or questions.
