Welcome to our listing and the Cowichan Valley. We overlook Quamichan Lake, and are located midway between salt water at Maple Bay and the city of Duncan (each are a six minute drive away). We are also midway between Nanaimo and Victoria (1 hour drives). The Mt. Tzoulhalem (Kaspa) trailhead is 600m away (bike lockup onsite). Our rate is for 2 guests. Additional guests are $40 per night. For 2 or more guests the second bedroom is available. All photos are of the guest suite and are current. Private entrance and patio. The suite is clean, spacious, and appealing, and occupies the entry level of a semi-rural home overlooking Quamichan Lake and the Cowichan Valley (pop. 80,000). Comfortably accommodates 4 adults. Two large bedrooms, plus a comfortable double foam mattress for the family room if required. Well-equipped kitchen and a family room with a gas fireplace, new appliances, professional gas range, laundry facilities, and secure bicycle lockup. The patio, BBQ, and outdoor furniture can be used year round. Dining table for 4 (6 with a table leaf) plus 2 (Email hidden by Airbnb) plimentary Optik TV, Apple TV, and Netflix. Good cell reception and reliable high speed fiber-optic Wi-Fi . Dimmable LED lighting. Out-of-town workers are welcome. As for pets, we accommodate well trained dogs only (maximum 2) who are accompanied at all times. Please let us know ahead of time. For small dog owners please be aware that deer with young ones occasionally pass by. We comply with BC Health Authority and Health Canada requirements as they develop and are committed to making your stay a safe one. We trust that you are equally committed. We're available to help you with your travel needs; we're longtime Valley residents and know the area well. You are in the middle of an outdoor-recreation box of chocolates. Our location is ideal for exploring the Valley, Victoria, and the Gulf Islands. Lake Cowichan is 30 minutes west of us. Maple Bay, Genoa Bay, and Cowichan Bay are nearby; see (Website hidden by Airbnb) and (Website hidden by Airbnb) Full service marinas at Maple Bay and Cowichan Bay, boat charters too. Float plane service to Vancouver located at Maple Bay (Harbour Air and Seair). Nanaimo International Airport (YCD) is 40 minutes away, Victoria International (YYJ) is 90 minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet, with hiking trails, tennis courts, and playground close by. Paved sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. Pickleball courts are at Maple Bay. Tennis courts nearby. Canada's Olympic Rowing Team trains on nearby Quamichan Lake. Mt. Tzouhalem (named for a Cowichan Chief) is a four season mountain-biking and hiking destination. If you're bike-inclined search 'MNC Trails' , 'Heavy-J' , or 'Trailforks' for maps. "Mt. Zoo" is behind us. For touring cyclists we are on the Rotary Route; search 'rotaryroute'. Secure bike storage is available. 'Cowichan', or 'Quw'utsun' in indigenous Salishan ( Salish) languages, means 'the warm land'. Our climate is classified as Mediterranean Marine on the Köppen scale, and is the only one of its kind in Canada. Public bus service 100m from the door (10 minutes into Duncan) Duncan: 6km, Maple Bay 4km. Hike and bike trails are nearby. We are near lakes, ocean, golf, shopping, and six minutes from Duncan. Wine tours and gourmet dining are high on our guests' to-do lists; during peak tourist months we are an affordable alternative to Victoria (an hour away) . BC Ferries can be busy during peak sailing times. Please check with BC Ferries online, or by phone, to avoid delays. If in doubt, make a sailing reservation. Also, be aware that GPS map searches may return results that show Island distances ‘as the crow flies’ and not actual driving distances. Islanders are conscientious about recycling and composting. We encourage our guests to do their part. If you need some help just ask. Safe travels.
