Private Guest Studio on Smith Mountain Lake

This quiet, cozy 360 square foot private guest studio is perfectly suited for one or two guests. It has year round stunning views of Smith Mountain Lake! Guests can start their day off right sipping some coffee on the patio watching a brilliant sunrise. Even though it's part of our home, the guest studio is Completely Private. It has its own private entry, so guests may easily come and go. PLEASE NOTE: We're taking extra time cleaning and disinfecting in addition to using UV technology. To give our guests piece of mind, in addition to utilizing UVC bulb with ozone before and after each booking; we've installed a whole house professional grade air treatment system in our HVAC air handler. It utilizes two 16" 254NM ultraviolet light bulbs to kill odors, mold, bacteria and viruses. For reference, our home sits 60' above the lake with amazing views out the back. The guest suite is on the lower level of the back side/lake side of our home; we live on the upper floor. The efficient space actually feels quite roomy with 10' ceilings. There are two recliners to hang out in to enjoy the fireplace, read a good book or to watch the TV from. The dining table is situated right in front of the large window to enjoy the ever-changing views. Guests can expand the view by leaving the front door open to access a built in screen in the glass storm door. There's a walk-in closet with plenty of room for you to unpack and stow your belongings. The guest suite features a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, thick Egyptian cotton bath towels and plush rugs. The kitchenette has all the basic conveniences. Some of which include: single hob induction cooktop, toaster oven, Foreman grill, portable outdoor propane BBQ The memory foam queen bed is super comfy and nicely appointed with freshly pressed 650 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. The space has WiFi as well as Dish TV with Netflix, Pandora and Alexa. Since our property isn't exactly walking distance to anything, we provide our guests with juice and some breakfast items to kickstart their day. We supply bottled water, as well as assorted coffee and tea varieties. Guests will have their own private access to the studio from the outside. Guest parking is in front of the upper level garage door on the right side. Please do not block the garage door on the left. There's also a nice sitting area right outside the guest suite where guests can take in the morning or evening views and even spot some of our abundant local wildlife. If we're not around, we're always available via AirBnB messaging to answer any questions. Only 10 minutes to the local grocery store and town center where you can find crafty boutiques, restaurants and gas station. Smith Mountain Lake itself offers world class fishing for dedicated anglers. Hop on the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway for a beautiful drive or check out nearby Westlake Golf Course. The Smith Mountain State park has a beach, trails for walking or hiking and nice swimming area. Our area of Franklin County is rural, there are no streetlights and no sidewalks. A good part of the drive to our property is via a semi-curvy, undulating, two lane country road surrounded by cow dotted pastures. If driving at night, be on the lookout for wildlife as well as fog on occasion. After a summer rain, turtles are often in the middle of the roads around here. Burgeoning downtown Roanoke is a mere 14 miles away and definitely worth checking out. For guests arriving via I-81, exit 143, to I-581, we are located just 20 miles from the exit and onward through Vinton. There's a neighborhood Walmart along that Vinton route as well as a Kroger for groceries. For guests arriving from the east, we are about 27 miles off of US-460, via VA-122. It's an easy stop at Bridgewater Marina for a bite, or at Kroger in Westlake for groceries on your way in. For guests arriving via 81 South, at exit 150A, there's a super Walmart on Challenger Ave. You'll definitely need a car. Please keep in mind our gravel driveway is somewhat steep. During winter months a vehicle with 4-wheel drive would come in handy, especially if we've had a lot of rain, ice or snow. For guests wishing to bring a boat, our property has plenty of space to park up to a 25' boat trailer up in our cul-de-sac. Please do not tow your boat trailer down our gravel driveway, as it's fairly steep. By car, we're a short 5 minute drive from the Hardy Ford public boat launch ramp. *Please check the VGDIF site beforehand. There are a number of places nearby, such as Parrot Cove Boat Rentals and Bridgewater Marina in Moneta, for rental of boats, personal watercraft, etc. For guests wishing to fish from a boat, you will definitely need a Virginia freshwater license (yes, they check!) Licenses can be purchased online. For guests with AT&T cellular - For some reason, AT&T does not have good coverage while on our property. Our home and our property are still a work in progress; guests might see Brian out on the tractor or Keri painting fence posts ~ We always have multiple simultaneous "homework" projects in the works to continue improving upon our setting...
