Schoodic Lake Getaway Cottage/ Katahdin-Bangor
Four-Season Cottage on Schoodic Lake in Lakeview Plantation Maine. This lakefront property will accommodate 10 people and is the perfect place to enjoy boating—fishing—waterskiing—four-wheeling—snowmobiling—swimming etc. This cottage has a full access dock, firepit area by the water to maximize the outdoor experience, while the cottage built in 2014 has creature comforts like radiant floor heat, wi-fi, laundry and a full kitchen. There is a boat launch near the entrance to the dirt road. This cottage has one master bedroom on the 2nd floor with a king size bed. There is a kids room adjacent to the master with bunk beds (two twin size beds) on the 2nd floor as well. The rest of the upstairs is a large Great Room with wall to wall carpeting and four skylights that gives this cottage a nice big open space for kids to occupy and is especially nice on a rainy day. This space also has an office desk and extra full mattress to accommodate an extra guest or two. The downstairs has an entranceway/foyer that leads to either the laundry room and/or the kitchen/living room. The kitchen overlooks the lake and has an eat-in island for two. The kitchen includes all necessary pots and pans, dishes and silverware, microwave (small), coffee maker, toaster, gas oven/range and dishwasher. Water is from a drilled well and there is a drinking water filter/ spigot (reverse osmosis) that is mounted to the back of the sink. The lakeside sun room/porch has a twin bed for those that love to wake up to the sun, seating area and dining table that will seat 6 to 8 people. The living room has the cottage's only TV with Apple TV, which can stream Netflix or Hulu. There is a DVD player too. A beautiful wood burning fireplace in the sitting area is great for those chilly nights. Downstairs also has the full bathroom which has a large shower stall and clawfoot tub. The 3rd guest bedroom is also located on the 1st floor and has a queen bed, private porch and additional twin day-bed. All rooms have their own thermostats and radiant floor heat (except the Great Room). If you plan on fishing, you will need to purchase your license on the State of Maine website. Distances from Local Attractions: Bangor International Airport: 49 miles (1 hour 2 minutes) Mt. Katahdin: 66 miles ( 1 hour 48 minutes) Katahdin Ironworks: 14 miles (26 minutes) Acadia National Park: 92 miles (2 hours) Guests will have full access to the cottage, dock and yard area. Due to the remote location of the home, we most likely will not be able to greet you upon arrival. Danika or I will reach out to you prior to your trip to answer any questions you may have and be sure you are ready for your stay. We do have family that live on the lake and are available to help in case of emergency. The driveway to this property is shared with one other cottage. These neighbors live here for the summer and are retired. Very nice people. The property to the other side (right side looking at the lake) is my fathers cottage and he is a summer resident as well. This cottage is in the heart of the Maine ITS trail system. From the cottage you can literally go anywhere in the state on either an atv/side-by-side or snowmobile. The access to this property is down a 5 mile long association owned gravel road that is great for a walks/runs and exploring. The lake house is located approximately 5 miles in on an unpaved, but very well-groomed dirt road. We will give you the exact address once you have booked which corresponds to your navigation device. We are inviting you into our home, so please disclose all guests who will be staying on the property. We are liable for the safety of everyone and we want to be sure we know everyone present in case of an emergency. If you have additional guests, please discuss prior with Coleen. We appreciate it. Up to two fur babies are allowed with a 50.00 nonrefundable deposit. Our neighbors have a dog, so we ask that you keep your pets on our property under your control at all times. Smoking is allowed outside the lake house and all smoking materials need to be disposed of properly. Due to nearby neighbors, we ask that no fireworks be brought or set off on the property. People come here to get away from the hub bub of the city and really just want a serene and quiet experience here. While we want you to enjoy the beautiful Maine summer nights, we ask that you please keep the noise level down after 10:00 out of respect for neighboring camps. Cellphone coverage is not great but there are a few spots were signal gets through. There is a landline for emergencies and WiFi for internet.
