Why stay in a boring, plain hotel, when you can sleep with Marilyn Monroe? Experience tranquil Eastern Shore of MD's sparkling waters, colonial heritage, wineries, Captain Smith & Chincoteague Islands, and fresh seafood. 10 min from Salisbury University, 30 min from the majestic Atlantic Ocean & barrier islands of wild horses, & zesty boardwalk and night life of Ocean City. Indulge your senses in the beauty of the arts in our home; a masterpiece of art decor, poetry, & music, to sooth the soul Besides being 30 minutes from Ocean City MD with the famous Springfest and Summerfest events with 200 art and craft booths and non stop live music, rides, food and drink for 4 days each May and September, and being 7 minutes from Salisbury University for student orientation, Senior High Site visits, and sporting events, we are located only 40 minutes from the internationally famous PONY SWIM on CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND, home of the best selling children's book, MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE, a true story with the main character Maureen Bebe still living on the little island, and the horse Misty, stuffed in an island museum. The famous Pony Swim is the last Wednesday in July and hotels are booked a year in advance, so come stay with me, as I used to live on the island and was a tour guide for the Pony Swim day and can give you all the inside details to make your visit the most enjoyable! This area is widely known for sporting events such as triathlons, biking clubs and Seagull Century bike-a-thon, running marathons, national basketball, baseball and soccer tournaments, wrestling, Shorebirds Stadium of minor league baseball, and more. The Wicomico Civic Center hosts weekly national entertainment and events, in October Salisbury is home to the state Wine Festival in October and Beer Festival of craft beers, and Pork in the Park barbeque festival in April. Historic sites abound with nearby Furnace Town and the Celtic Festival, Harriet Tubman museum, Poplar Hill Mansion, Pemberton Park Mansion, Captain John Smith Island in the Chesapeake Bay, and Tangier Island with boating excursions. Kayaking in the Chesapeake Bay, the Pocomoke and Salisbury rivers, and the Atlantic Ocean, and a campfire on the pristine, UN commercialized Assateague Island beach or enjoying nature and wild horses on the beach, all only 20 minutes from my home, is a pleasure to take your breath away! In our area is great antique shopping, terrific flea markets, and novelty experiences. Salisbury is only 2 hours from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and only 3 hours from Wilmington DE and Norfolk VA, and only 5 hours from New York City - enjoy the pleasures of the big cities, while relaxing in the serene home of the arts! Guests may make this their home away from home, by accessing all areas such as living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry, front and back yards, bike ride or walk through the quiet neighborhood, back patio and front porch and of course their own private bathroom and delightful Maryland - Marilyn Room to rest in. I am available to help in any way needed to create for the guests a superior experience in my home. I can guide them to the best arts and other events, restaurants, shopping, antique or flea market locations and will respond to hospitality needs as they may arise. I live in a beautiful, quiet, tranquil neighborhood, off the beaten path and what feels like is forgotten by the world. This is the perfect place to take a walk or bike ride, sit and gaze into the woods, reflect on life, photograph nature or write that poem that has nagged at your spirit for years! People drive by our community entrance for years without ever realizing what lays down the road, thereby constantly forgetting we exist, which all of us who live in this serene cluster, absolutely love and do not feel the slightest offended by the world forgetting our homes are nestled among the woods. As in most areas, the local taxi cab service, Uber or the City Bus system is our public transportation. I am working on becoming a Uber driver soon, so by the time you check in, I may be able to offer you transportation too with your stay! There is a regional Airport only 10 minutes from my home, with flights out everyday to national airports, with connecting flights in Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Norfolk, and Charlotte, and is a great way to travel without the hassels of a large city international airport. Greyhound bus service runs right through Salisbury with a 24 hour terminal located here, and buses leave here to travel to New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC, Wilmington DE, Philadelphia, Norfolk and points even further south, west and north. While the bathroom is considered private for guests only, it IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT IF BOTH THE GUEST ROOMS RENT ON THE SAME NIGHT, OR IF YOUR GROUP NEEDS TO RENT AN ADDITIONAL ROOM, THEN THE BATHROOM IN THE GUEST WING BECOMES A SHARED BATHROOM. This is unlikely, and most of the time it is a private bathroom, and the home owner never uses this bathroom, but it could occur that two rooms rent the same night. The bathroom is quite lovely and very clean though, thank you for understanding the option for shared facilities should that happen.
