THE COTTAGE This one bedroom, one bath 400 sq ft Cottage' was built in 1880.and underwent a complete restoration in 2005. The cottage accommodates two guests quite comfortably and will accommodate two additional guests using a daybed and trundle. An additional fee is assessed for more than two guests. A short distance to destinations such as Bristol Motor Speedway (7 mi), Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Carter Fold, & Fly Fishing on the Holston, 2 night min on race and R&R The Cottage is located in the center of Historic Blountville and adjacent to the Old Deery Inn (circa 1800). Centered on the Great Stage Road the Inn was a major stopping point for those traveling from Washington City to Nashville from the late 1700's to the mid-1850's. The Inn was also integral during the Civil War Battle of Blountville in 1863. Five (5) Civil War markers provide a guide through the Blountville battle-site. You will have access to the entire cottage as well as a parking area directly in front of the porch. A spare key can be found in a lock-box hanging from a light on the side porch. The combination will be shared following posting. We live adjacent to the cottage and are available if needed. We are also available to provide a tour of the 1800'a Deery Inn. (60 - 120 minutes). The Tour includes the 8,000 sq. ft. Inn and the Quarters (Family Kitchen (1820), Tavern Kitchen (1810), Weave House, Granny Cabin, 1840's School, Slave Laundry, and Slave House (life skills). The Sullivan County Historical Association fee for the tour is $5.00 for adults. The monies are used by the 501c3 organization for various programs. The Cottage is in the center of the Historic District in Blountville. It is located only 7 miles from the Tri Cities Regional Airport (TRI) and 5 miles away from Bristol Motor Speedway. Also, only 14 miles away, is downtown Bristol TN/VA , which is home to the annual Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion every September. For the avid fly fisherman, we are located 18 miles from Weir Dam on the South Holston River. One of the finest trout streams on the East Coast! Located 1 mile off of convenient Interstate 81, the Cottage is easily accessible. Plan a musical weekend and visit TAMHA (Traditional Appalachian Musical Heritage Association) on Friday night's from 6pm-10pm across the street. Visit the Birthplace of Country Music Museum on Saturday morning which is only 14 miles away and on Saturday night visit the infamous Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, VA only 21 miles away.
