Creek Campsite at Carson Creek Retreat
Set up in your tent at our shady campsite in the heart of the Gorge. Explore 1100' of creek, our waterfall area, or walk a few minutes to a stunning Columbia River view spot! Site has a fire pit and a picnic table, and is about 100' to our amenities area with water faucet and electrical outlet! ((During the spring and summer we have a port-a-potty and an outdoor shower with hot water-- please note, these are not available now or for winter--prices have been modified--thanks!)) The creek is approx 30' via a cute trail from the campsite, we have a lounge chair area set up there. Our house is at the end of the driveway, so please do not block the road. Park either right in there with the tents, or on the pull out opposite the drive that goes up the shed right across from the campsite. Please exit the way you came (our driveway keeps getting messed up as people attempt to tackle the sharp steep turn ahead-- please go out the way you came!) We live in the house down the driveway, but also have 2 wonderful workaway people here for the summer, Gibb and Temany in their RV. They are helping us maintain this big property, and we love them! They are parked quite a ways away from your camper area, but they do share the bath area and we use it as well on hot days! The site is cute, one tents fit great, two is doable, I have seen 3 even (though tight). Feel free to move the picnic table around if you want a different arrangement. Short trail down to the creek 'lounge', which is a quaint and secluded spot. The water faucet is up by the shed, next to the **outdoor shower (please only organic products if you plan to use it)! The outlet is just around the back corner of the shed. The **port-o-pot is on the front side of the shed. (PORTOPOT AND HOT SHOWER NOT AVAILABLE FOR FALL/WINTER! Prices have been modified. PLEASE bring gargage bags and pack out your bathroom deeds!!!) Up at the north of the property you can find a viewing platform over the waterfall area and another picnic spot you are welcome to enjoy. You may see airbnb'ers from the house, called Blackbird Cottage, up there as well (or us). The house is also available for single rooms (3) or entire second floor rentals. Look for Carson Creek Retreat on Airbnb to see all our options! Feel free to ask questions. Enjoy! You're welcome to explore the land, we have 9 acres. We live in the house down the road, but ideally you are a self sufficient guest. Debbie is an interior and landscape designer, and a mural artist. If you are interested in her services, you can ask for a tour around the house! Becky, her daughter, is often around visiting or working on projects. She was the architect and owns the upper portion of the property. We're just a few minutes from the main center of Carson, a 3 minutes drive to SR 14. We're very close to the Wind River, the Columbia River, and the Carson Hot Springs. We're 6.5 miles from the Bridge of the Gods and PCT, and 5 minutes from Stevenson. It's 20 minutes to White Salmon/Hood River. 45 minutes to East Portland, 1 hr to Downtown. You'll want your own vehicle! As far as pets, they are welcome, but it's VERY important they stay on a leash or in your sight if they are well trained. We've had a neighbor complain about visiting dogs running thru their yard, and we've had others digging up our flowers. Please pick up your dogs poo and dump it in the portopot or take it with your garbage as well. Thanks so much! If you make a campfire, please be good stewards and watch it, putting it out before you retire for the night. For the outdoor shower here are instructions for use: 1. Turn both knobs to ‘MIN’ 2. Turn small knob on right water faucet outside to on (halfway is plenty). The red handle should already be up, you can test the left faucet to see. 3. Click button underneath unit to “On” (depressed towards the wall). 4. Point the shower nozzle away from you, and turn the knob on the handle to start the flow. You should hear a clicking/igniting sound. 5. Wait at least 10-15 seconds to adjust the heat. It can get very hot so be careful. 6. Please only use organic soap/products 7. Please limit your use to 5-7 minutes. Propane adds up! 8. Enjoy! Feel free to sing :)! Please turn the switch and water off when you are done! If you want a cold rinse, simply skip step 3!
