The Cable area is home to many outdoor activities... Cross country skiing - Only steps from the starting point of the American Birkebeiner, you are in the heart of ski country. The cabin overlooks a ski trail and a ski out basement provides room for waxing and ski preparation. The area boasts almost 100 miles of trails for every skill level. Mountain Biking - The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) off-road bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped routes through a near-wilderness area of striking beauty and peaceful solitude. The trails contain a linked system of single-track trails connecting Hayward, Seeley, Cable and Namakagon. ATV - The Chequamegon National Forest contains over 140 miles of trails for the ATV enthusiast offering rugged terrain, and unparalleled scenery. The Cable Area continues to expand the ATV systems and trails are being developed yearly. Snowmobiling - Uncrowded trails and the solitude of the Chequamegon National Forest bring snowmobilers back again and again to the Cable Area. The area has over 1,200 miles of interconnecting snowmobile trail systems, making it one of the largest trail systems in the U.S. The Chequamegon National Forest adds 300 miles of snowmobile trails to the already impressive total and in addition to the designated trails, there are nearly 1,000 miles of National Forest roads that are not plowed in the winter months and are open to snowmobile travel.
