Mountain Retreat at NorthernShire

Come stay at our NorthernShire Retreat surrounded by the beauty of Mount Mansfield. We are a community and an educational center, living on 80 acres, located on the slopes of Mt Mansfield. Our community is made up of 14 friendly people living together and working on the land. We are happy to say hello and share information about the area, but will also give you privacy in your own space which is separate from the rest of the community spaces. You'll have the space entirely to yourself. We welcome you to enjoy the beauty of our mountain view here at the center and enjoy the many surrounding outdoor opportunities within walking distance. Just 1.1 miles from the Long Trail at Butler Lodge and a few miles from Underhill State Park with access to the Sunset Ridge trail to the chin. You can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, ice skating, sledding, cross-country and backcountry skiing. We are just 13 miles from Smugglers Notch Ski resort with downhill skiing, 21 miles to Burlington downtown center, 13 miles to Richmond, 5 miles to Jericho Market for Groceries, and 19 miles to the Burlington International Airport. While we share Mount Mansfield, we are 37 miles to Stowe. During COVID times, we want to make sure you feel safe and comfortable while visiting. Along CDC guidelines, we allow a single booking for the full retreat space, so there is only one group of people staying here at any given time, and there is a day for the space to be sanitized before next guests arrive. You will have the space to yourself for the duration of your stay. You will have access to a kitchenette, a shower, 2 bathrooms and the bedrooms you need. We provide wifi and the ability to receive parcels for you if needed. Feel free to contact us if you have questions, concerns or would like to arrange for a different duration of stay - we are flexible and welcoming! Guests have access to the whole space, including the kitchenette. Out of respect for privacy of people living here and for The Land, we ask you to explore nature only close to the buildings - and head out to official trails and parks for more serious hiking. We are in the process of regenerating and preserving the natural habitat on our Land. We're around and would love to meet you if you'd like, but we are also happy to give you space. We abide by the guidelines of CDC and social distancing for both your and our safety during these times. If in proximity of others, we kindly request you wear a mask, to protect yourself and those around. In Underhill Center (2 miles away), there is a post-office and a small convenience store. In Underhill (5 miles away), there is a full-sized grocery store "The Jericho Market", which carries a variety of organic and conventional goods. We are directly at the base of the mountain and only a couple of miles from Underhill State park and just 1 mile to the Butler Lodge trail head. We have plenty of parking spots. You can take a Lyft/Uber to reach us - and you probably will not be able to take these back, just so you know. Please, arrange for transportation back ahead of time. The closest public transport is in Underhill. “Jeffernsonville Commuter Bus 36” provides service between Burlington and Jeffersonville. It passes through Underhill on route 15 and picks up at Dickinson Street - just next to the the Jericho Market. Bikes can be rented in Burlington and transported on the bus - which bypasses all the city riding and gets you right into the country. We are a fragrance free, smoke free and alcohol free facility. That means we ask you to refrain from wearing fragrances in cosmetics, and using fabric softener. Sara Peterson, a ReTribe staff and resident on the property has her massage therapy practice here on the land - Earthshine Wellness.
