The loft is perfect to perch up and relax above the bike path and garden. It’s a newly renovated suite with modern furniture, comfy bed, a clawfoot tub/shower, full washer/dryer, hand-crafted kitchen cabinetry, and a gas oven and stovetop. Outside is a beautifully landscaped organic herb garden. It’s a 5-minute drive to the Amtrak train station and Mary Washington Hospital. Walk to restaurants, Carl's ice-cream, groceries and Old Mill Park across the street. This recently renovated home was originally built in the early 1900's. The space is the entire upstairs with a private entrance, and front deck facing the garden. The unit is completely self-contained with a full kitchen, stove/oven, fridge, clawfut tub/shower, 3 chair dining bar, pantry and full-size washer & dryer. The property is ideally located on the Heritage Trail, a 3.1 mile paved loop that connects the two parts of the Canal Path making for a scenic bike ride, jog or walk. Great for people-watching while sitting on the deck! ***Note: The ladder next to the fridge is solely for accessing the attic and is not needed during your stay. (I state that here because I often get asked if the "loft" is up the ladder. )*** You have access to the top floor suite, huge deck, and organic herb garden. ***Note: The ladder next to the fridge is solely for accessing the attic and is not needed during your stay.*** The property is located in a residential area near commercial shops and restaurants. It’s directly across the street from Old Mill Park, where you can take the kids to play, walk the dog, or launch your kayak into the Rappahanock River. Visit the nearby beach on the river or kayak the rapids! This is a unique opportunity to stay in an historic building within walking distance of downtown Fredericksburg, just a few blocks from Carl's Ice Cream and all the cafes and shops on Princess Anne. Fredericksburg is easily accessible by bike or car, and there is also FRED (our local public transportation service). The Amtrak train station is 1.6 mi. The I-95 entrance is 3 miles.
