Elouisa is a groovy converted schoolbus situated on 36 gorgeous acres in the woods of Southwest Colorado, just 5 miles from Mesa Verde. Complete with kitchenette, super comfy queen size bed,and lots of private space to rest and retreat. Full bath with hot shower and sink and toilet. All private and for your use only. This is one of the most unique airbnb places you may come across! Into the Wild anyone? This bus has been refurbished and made into a cozy home, nestled in the juniper and sagebrush, overlooking Mesa Verde and the town of Mancos. Close to town with still the out in the woods feel! Super cute, comfy and cozy setting! You will love it! It does NOT have running water inside the bus, but there is water for drinking and rinsing in the sink, both in jugs. There is running water (hot and cold) in the bathroom in the nearby building. ;) Elouisa is a cozy place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and a fantastic stop over on your way through Southwestern Colorado. Whether you are looking for a unique get-away, wanting an easy stop-over on your drive through, seeking a jump-off base for nearby adventures or just want to relax in the woods with a good read, this amazing hippie bus is a perfect place to be. Elouisa has retired from life on the road. In her hay-day, Elouisa was traveling home to many. She's seen a lot in her day. Now, she's ready to settle down. This is a peaceful space, where the sounds of nature and country neighbors offer distant companionship. The heater will keep you warm on chilly winter nights. The views from the many windows are of surrounding forests and wildlife. Basic kitchen amenities are provided (small fridge, stove, toaster, kettle, dishes, silverware, etc). Organic coffee and an assortment of tea is provided. We provide bio-degradable soap, shampoo and conditioner, clean towels, etc. The bus has a composting toilet and a regular flushing toilet is in the shop nearby along with full hot shower and sink amenities. Proceeds from your visit will fund further permaculture development on the land, so rest assured, your footprint will be small and green while you visit here. Full access to bus, completely private and away from anyone else on the property. Also there is a full bathroom (toilet, hot newly tiled shower and sink) in the shop very nearby. There are lots of trails for hiking and mountain biking within miles of our location. Great food and fun activities minutes to town. The bus is situated on land shared by a few households, and you are welcome to hike the land, but we ask that you respect the privacy of other residents. Although there is no internet at the bus, and cell service is not always reliable (ATT and Verizon work ok, but not great). If you sit near the main house, you can pick up a WiFi signal. Staying for a week or more? We have a small organic garden that you are welcome to during your stay. Interaction with guests is entirely up to the guest. The bus is very private and self contained. There is always someone on the property for questions and guidance to the area and accommodations! Mancos is a lovely community of artists, farmers and all around good peeps. There is much to do around the area from mountain biking to trail hiking to Mesa Verde National Park. The four corners region truly is a rich place to explore and the weather is pretty mild year round. Can be a little warm July and August, but the rains usually show up around then to cool off the afternoon heat! Downtown Mancos is one minute away or an easy walk to town, full of art galleries, a river path, Absolute Bakery (a must), great parks and who knows what magic may be about on any given day! There is no public transit in Mancos. It is a town of 1500. Located just 5 minutes from the entrance of Mesa Verde. ;) There is also a composting toilet in the school bus for the middle of the night potty run. Don't be scared away by simple living, it truly is a fantastic place to visit!
