Blue Heron Cabin

Blue Heron Cabin sits on a 291 acre wildlife preserve. It has an active Great Blue Heron rookery in site of the cabin, a Bald Eagle nest and a huge variety of waterfowl and wildlife. Easy access off Hwy 2. Heavenly Jacuzzi tub. Private 35-acre lake for fishing and kayaking on site. Two kayaks with life jackets. Boat & trailer parking at cabin. Public boat launch into Pend Oreille River directly across the street; public beach and playground. Children welcome. Books & toys. 55" TV. There are two queen beds and one queen hide-a-bed. Jacuzzi tub will help relax after a day of recreation. The kitchen is fully stocked with pans, dishes and utensils, coffee maker, toaster oven, crock pot, hand mixer, food processor, coffee, tea and cocoa. There is a gas range, dishwasher and refrigerator, washer & dryer. Binoculars are provided for wildlife watching. The Priest River Recreation Area is directly across the street with public beach, playground, picnic tables, boat launch, and trailer parking. Guests can cook over an open fire in the back yard, swim at public beach, watch wildlife, photograph wildlife, or launch their boat into the Pend Oreille River, which is directly connected to Lake Pend Oreille. Boat and trailer can be parked at this cabin. In addition, the cabin has a private 35 acre lake with lots of fish. Kayaks are for use in this lake. An adjacent public lake with boat launch is stocked by Idaho Fish & Game. GPS is glitchy. Please check driving directions in house manual. The entire cabin is included in a private space. Guests may come and go as they please. There is plenty of parking space next to the cabin for boats and trailers. I am usually less than 5 minutes away if there is anything needed by guests. The cabin is directly across the street from the Priest River Recreation Area where there is a public beach, playground and public restrooms. The public boat launch into Pend Oreille River connects boaters to Lake Pend Oreille. There is another adjacent lake that is part of the preserve and is stocked with trout by Idaho Fish and Game. Idaho fishing license is required. This lake has a public boat launch. Another private Blue Heron Lake has no boat launch, but is available for fishing and kayaking. Access is easy off Highway 2. There is plenty of private parking. The wildlife preserve has a herd of white tail deer, frequent elk presence, occasional moose presence. In 17 years and thousands of hours out in the preserve photographing wildlife, we have never been confronted with a wild animal; but they are out there. Keep a safe distance from wild animals if you see them. Guests are responsible to use good judgment and be responsible for their own safety.
