Built in 1979 by Greg and his amazingly talented family (I helped a little), a family that has lived in this area for generations. Each stone in the floor to ceiling fireplace was selected and hauled from nearby creek! The house is sitting on a hillside, so you can enjoy beautiful sunrises and winter views from the front deck. We wanted a place to raise our family that would give opportunity for adventure to explore the outdoors. That certainly was accomplished. Besides the wildlife that roam the area (turkey, deer, occasional bear), we have enjoyed playing in creeks, hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing at nearby Lake Summit and just playing outside, even sledding when it snowed. We truly have four seasons! There are many things to do in the area for the outdoorsman and boutique shopper. We made a list! Tuxedo....New town park for kids, Lake Summit (kayak access), fishing (with license) 1 mile Flat Rock...Carl Sandburg Home (hiking), Shopping, great restaurants, and The Flat Rock Playhouse (NC State Theater). 3 miles Hendersonville...Over 30 restaurants downtown, several local brewerys, boutique shopping, aquarium, gem mining, hands on children museum and more. 6 miles Asheville....The Biltmore House, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, eclectic shopping, river arts district. 25 miles Saluda....The Gorge zip line canopy tour, Green River Tubing. 12 miles Greenville, SC...Swamp Rabbit biking and walking trail, great downtown with lots of dining options. 31 miles DuPont State Park.....Hiking,Waterfalls, Horseback Riding. 10 miles Tryon International Equestrian Center 22 miles Brevard.... Hiking, Waterfalls, Pisgah National Forest 22 miles
