Cozy 1882 Farmhouse-10 minutes from Wine Country
Come for a get away to The Farmhouse located out in the quiet country near towns of Hermann, Berger and New Haven. Gather with friends or bring your family. This is family friendly so children will enjoy a yard to run and play in or gathering for s'mores around the fire. The area boasts of wineries and many weekends are filled with planned festivities. The Farmhouse was built in the later 1880's and will remind you of those nostalgic visits to grandma's house or what one might read about of "growing up on the farm." It is a wonderful place to take the family for a weekend away from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life and just get refreshed. It has an enclosed sun porch set up with a dining table, a kitchen for preparing meals, four bedrooms and a living room for gathering for visits and games. There is also a back porch complete with porch swing and outside visiting. There is a bonfire area set up also with roasting sticks and a sweet time of roasting marshmallows awaiting your visit. We just finished a front porch deck where you can add space and another gathering place to visit and relax. There is a glider swing for children's play that can be watched from this perch too. The outbuildings are not open for guests use but a stroll around the property is accepted. On that walk you'll find the two hole outhouse, a one room log cabin and an old log hand-hewn barn. The country road is well suited for a relaxing walk. The property sets alone and although there are a couple of houses in view, The Farmhouse is a very private place. Guests will have access to the entire house, the outside porches, and bonfire area. The barns and sheds are not ready for use at present so they are off limits. We are available to the guests but after checking in you will be left alone. We live nearby though and are available if there are unanswered questions or needs. We love meeting people and visiting but will be respectful of our guests privacy. Located 7 miles from German Town Hermann Missouri or 8 miles from Old New Haven Missouri. The area is filled with quaint shops, wineries, and weekend festivities. Swiss Meats, located 12 miles south of Hermann is a wonderful place to test out sausages and Bratwurst. The Wursthaus in Hermann also carries many awards for their delicious and savory meats. Quaint shops seem to popping up each week. New Haven's Astro Glass is a wonderful glass blowing shop that gives daily demonstrations for viewing. Nearly every weekend The Walt, the New Haven movie theater, features a movie. It is a fun place to step back into the theaters of yesteryear. As for the neighborhood....well we are country, on a gravel road and our neighbors are the best of people. The Farmhouse has its own space though and is not next to any residential dwelling. You would be responsible for your own transportation, but the good news is that the Hermann Trolley service has put us on their route and will come out to The Farmhouse and pick you up. The cost will be $25/person for the day (just $5 increase from town pick-up) That's pick-up, drop-off, and town transportation. They can pick up to 14 people. Find info on the Hermann trolley service. the above prices are 2020 prices and may change so be in touch with the trolley service so there is no misunderstandings. There are a couple of Uber drivers in the area too that we could get you numbers for. The Farmhouse is set up with wifi but no tv service. We have also added a booster that has improved cell service, except for Verizon, which doesn't do well for anyone in the area. We hope that you find the Farmhouse a place to shut off technology. It is our hope that time away from the technology of normal life encourages families, individuals, and couples to spend time interacting that otherwise isn't accomplished. There is a "puzzle table" set up, games available, a kitchen to practice culinary skills, a country road to walk, a campfire area and outside areas to explore, and peaceful surroundings to just sit and soak in country living. There is a house in view but there are no close neighbors. The gravel road is lightly traveled but you probably won't notice any road travel as you are set back a ways from the road.
