Welcome to Hale Ohana home away from Home!! Accommodations in a Cute, Classic, 3 Bedroom 50’s Hick’s House just outside of Hilo in a rural setting for Budget Conscious Travelers. This is a Great accommodation for a family, or group of friends who are traveling on a Budget in a recently redecorated older home. Classic accommodations in a Cute, Vintage 3 bedroom, Hick’s House just outside of Hilo. The house does show its age a bit, so it’s priced between a budget and regular Hotel. Conveniently located on the Hawaii Belt Road, very close to the start of the 4 Mile Scenic Drive. The Hawai’ian Tropical Botanical Gardens and Onomea Bay are just over a mile away. Home is also very close to Hilo (4 miles to the edge of Downtown) and very easy to find. It is ideally located for people visiting the Hamakua Coast (Akaka Falls and even the Waipio Valley). Hamakua Hale Ohana Country Retreat is a great accommodation for a family or group of friends who are traveling on a budget and do not want to stay in a hostel or pay high Hotel prices for private rooms. It even makes sense for a single person or couple where a full kitchen and non-shared space is important. What you get is a full house instead of just a room for about the less than the price of a decent Hotel room. While this little old lady of a home will always show some age, I have given her wrinkles a lift with Brand New Appliances and a recent redecoration. She’s a Sweet little Granny who is welcoming and frugal. All the Basic’s for a Classic 50’s Hick’s House. Conveniently located on the Hawai’I Belt Road, getting places is very easy but the convenience does come with the added noise of some traffic (cars going by, not car horns) and it can sometimes be heard from the bedrooms. With that being said, you can also hear the stream flowing below the hillside from 2 of the bedrooms, or the wind rustling through the Banana trees from the other one. This is a rural neighborhood with the sounds of the neighbor’s goats and cow’s frolicking in their expansive yard to the south and yes, the Coqui Frogs singing their symphony every evening. Green Geckos hang around and eat mosquitos, so they are always a welcome guest. It is a nice, comfortable and simple setting for those who want to visit the Big Island and have an easy jumping off point for all it has to offer, but do not want to spend a fortune on lodging. Rooms are complete with Queen Beds, dressers and closets. Guest Access Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen with new Stove and Refrigerator, bathroom, with remodeled shower, towels, soaps and shampoo, laundry with new Washer and Dryer and other facilities in my home. We have reliable WiFi and Basic Cable TV (though most people would prefer to take in the beautiful island than watch TV). Kick Off your Shoes and Relax!
