Welcome to your historic homestead retreat. Whether or not you're familiar with the story of Arthurdale, does not determine the satisfaction of walking along the fields and gardens, poking in the root cellar, or watching the chickens chase bugs. You can take in the sunset view from your suite before dinner while planning the next day's adventure. Make yourself at home; there's something for everyone here. Long-term renters are highly encouraged to check out the deep monthly discounts. Your guest suite has its own mini kitchen (sink, 2-burner stovetop, microwave, mini fridge, coffee, and utensils). If there are any special utensils you have in mind, let me know and I'll make sure you have them. The suite has first floor access with lots of windows facing out over the farm. I live in the house, but you will have you own locked access and privacy. It is a cozy space for two people (think tiny house, but with a little more breathing room). You have use of the back patio for outdoor dining, but it is a work in progress so please forgive the strange landscaping. You are welcome to walk through the fenced in garden area and down to the creek at the bottom of the field. Please take note that although you have visual privacy, we will share a wall where some sound does pass through. I price accordingly. Arthurdale is a lovely neighborhood to walk around. I will try my best to be at your service, but I am unable, I will send you self-service instructions. I love Arthurdale, and want to make sure your time here is relaxing and refreshing. It's a great place to explore by bike or on foot. There's a goat farm a bit down the road. Deckers Creek Rail Trail is a mile up Rt 92 for endless miles of biking or whatever movement you choose. My favorite is for x-c skiing. Be sure to check out the local food co-op at the historic Esso gas station, the museum, the historic tour, and all those other wholesome goodies. Be sure to check out Modern Homestead in Reedsville as the intersection of Rt 7 and 92. They have amazing baked goods, gifts, plants for sale, and of course coffee. They are also tremendous hosts if you need more room! The Cheat River is only 20 minutes away and offers world class kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and ok fishing;) I could go on for hours about that river. There's also the Fairfax Pond wildlife management area right in town that offers some nice woodland strolls. So much more, but I'll stop there. Foot, bike, public transit is the Buckwheat Express:)
