Built in 1884, the White House exudes all of the charm of a rural abode with the simplicity of being right on Main Street, sitting just a stone’s throw from Brushland Eating House and a short drive from the towns of Andes and Delhi. With ample space to unpack and spread out, our cozy farmhouse boasts separate living and dining rooms thoughtfully appointed with Dairy Boom-era antique seating for stoking the pellet stove and sharing a paper in the morning, a Summit range and old wash station in the Galley Kitchen proves plenty of space for whipping up eggs or testing a pie recipe, The General’s Office allows you to work remotely (or better yet, dabbling in watercolor), a clawfoot tub means soaking the day away and three bedrooms awash in sunlight and dressed with crisp white linen and plush feather comforters are the recipe for a perfect night’s sleep. A four-season escape brimming with natural abundance, Bovina is still a well-kept secret in the resurgance that is year-round Catskills refuge. Cross-country skiing in the winter, Swimming-hole scouting in the summer, and guaranteed time to recharge no matter the weather, we find that our little town is the ultimate respite from hectic city life. Not ‘outdoorsy’? Not an issue. The thin stretch of yard is large enough for lunch on the lawn with a spiked lemonade and a few rounds of croquet, but not so big that you might lose sight of your friends. Recline and enjoy watching the stream babble by or wrap up in a blanket to gaze up at the stars, and forget that you’ll ever have to return to your scheduled programming without worrying ‘who mows ALL of this?!’
