A Slice of Paradise: Mom’s Island Basement Retreat

Welcome to Mom’s Basement! We do not offer wifi or satellite tv (we do get a few channels on the old rabbit ears) and the ceilings are quite low in some areas (mind your head!) but we can offer a cozy and comfortable space completely equipped with many amenities and spacious parking. We have a kennel available for guests with four legged friends. Taking pets inside the listing is discouraged due to allergies but is negotiable for a fee. If you have any questions about the space, just ask! Outside the house we have a large yard and pond, with plenty of friendly cats and other local wildlife. Our spacious guest parking area is just steps away from the listing entrance and can accommodate even very large vehicles. Inside, we have a lovely living/dining/work area with comfortable seating, an expandable dining table and a classic wooden desk and chair. We have two TVs, one connected to the antenna, both with bluray players for guest use. We also have a small book collection you may browse at your leisure. Teas and coffee are provided, so you can always read with a “cuppa.” The listing is heated and cooled with a newly installed heat-pump, set to a comfortable 70 degrees year-round, both bedrooms are well ventilated, and are within easy reach of the kitchen and bathroom. All necessary linens and towels are provided, as well as extra blankets. We are continuing our tradition and intent on delivering a Slice of Paradise, and that means comfort! Guests have full access to the basement suite and may visit the yard to see our local wildlife (we have some resident birds including owls and a Blue Heron and other critters). We are happy to provide access to the space and leave our guests to their own devices, but if you have any questions or requests, just ask, we are nearly always available! The area is quiet and rural, with many of our neighbors enjoying the peace of an agrarian area. We are very close to Dover and all of its amenities, and Smyrna is only ten minutes away. The best way to get around is definitely by personal vehicle, although you may see the occasional horse and buggy or push-scooter on our road. Please be careful when driving, especially at night! We have Amish neighbors, so please be very careful when driving on our road!
