15 miles of natural hiking & biking trails 200 yards away in Three Sisters Park. Our rustic modern, 730 sq ft, detached guesthouse is often nicknamed the "treehouse" by guests as you're perched among the upper-levels of evergreens with views in all directions of the forested foothills through big windows! Wildlife galore! New kitchen, bathroom, beds, floors, & windows. Our place is great for a couple or family wanting to figuratively bathe themselves in nature! THE SPACE Our guesthouse over the garage is elevated on a ridge over the neighborhood, so it feels secluded even with the drapes open, yet is a central hub for your mountain adventures! With the right weather, alpenglow sunrises will await you with your cup of coffee. • brand-new kitchen addition (no oven) • new high-end queen memory foam mattress and bedding • lots of natural light with room darkening drapes • stylish club chairs, leather couch, bean bag, and breakfast table (comfortable up to 4 people) • sunny elevated deck with views and patio furniture wraps halfway around the guesthouse • 43" smart TV includes Netflix access • bring-your-own HBO, Showtime, Amazon, Hulu, SlingBox, or YouTube TV subscription to access it on our Roku (no live TV included) • stereo with subwoofer • full remodel of bathroom • 2 outdoor parking spaces in the driveway • central heat and wood pellet stove (w/ motor blower, so makes some sound) • full-length mirror in the bedroom • blow dryer, clothes iron, and ironing board (on request) When 3+ guests, we unlock and prepare the brand-new Murphy wall bed with new memory foam mattress. If just 2 guests and want Murphy bed access, it is a $40 upcharge to prepare and cover the cost of linens and Murphy bed (let us know before booking). The new kitchen has: • two-burner induction stove & cookware • Nespresso coffee maker with pods • assortment of teas • light snacks and breakfast items • electric pour-over kettle w/thermometer • microwave and toaster • under-counter fridge (with small freezer) • plates, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, etc • burr coffee grinder • drip coffeemaker • small ice cooler • no oven Like most places in the foothills, there is no AC. Usually, all you need is the ceiling fan in the living room and the stand fan in the bedroom (except during a major heat wave). Even when unusually hot, it cools down fast when the sun goes down. Our next-door neighbor is a highly-skilled massage therapist. Walk 100 yards to her studio to top off the retreat experience! She specializes in deep tissue, injury massage, and hot stone. GUEST ACCESS Our neighborhood shares the forest, and we mostly don't fence off the property boundaries. We will provide a property boundary map so that you don't inadvertently wander onto neighbor properties. AREA OVERVIEW This is a serene neighborhood (minus the random barking dog and other sounds of rural life) where each home has anywhere from 1 to 10 acres. Bordering an open space park, our street is especially quiet, and is a short dead-end with only a few neighbors. The neighborhood trailhead for Alderfer/Three Sisters Park is *literally* 200 yards down our street. From there you can hike uphill to the top of Evergreen Mountain w/ a view of Mount Evans (14er). Or, take the rolling terrain to the Three Sisters area—perfect for children and those looking for a calming stroll. Mountain bikers and trail runners will appreciate the variety. Popular activities in Three Sisters include rock climbing, horseback riding, snowshoeing, trail running, hiking (with dogs too), and mountain biking. All in, there are 15 miles of rambling paths and 1120 acres of evergreen and aspen forest, wildflower meadows, and rock formations to explore. Please drive very slowly in the neighborhood as neighboring kids play on our street and deer and elk like to graze right next to the roads. Foxes and coyotes may even make a cameo! Evergreen Lake has paddle boat, SUP, canoe, kayak, and sailboat rentals in the summer. It turns into the largest Zamboni-groomed skating rink in the world in the winter! It's fishable all year, just be sure to bring your own ice drilling equipment in the winter. The Lake House is a popular wedding venue from spring through fall. Evergreen Golf Course, just uphill from the lake, was donated to the city by a private owner and is a beautiful, huge bang for your buck. I think you get the point that it is Q.U.I.E.T. out here. Please be mindful and help us keep our neighborhood safe and peaceful. For everyone's security, there is an outdoor camera 30 yards from the guesthouse overlooking the entrance of the property and driveway area. GETTING AROUND Other than Three Sisters Park, you'll need a car to get around. Driving distances without traffic: - 8 mins: charming historic downtown with fantastic restaurants, breweries, and shopping; Evergreen Lake with watersports, fishing, ice skating, and golf; Maxwell Falls - 10 mins: full-size Safeway grocery store, top-notch liquor store, and gas stations - 30 mins: Red Rocks world-renowned concert amphitheatre (via gorgeous canyon road), casino towns, Staunton State Park - 40 mins: downtown Denver - 1 hour: Denver airport - 1 to 2 hours: world-class ski towns, peak of Mount Evans by car (highest paved road in US), epic hiking/backpacking, Rocky Mountain National Park If booking in the winter: Roads get snow plowed often. As long as there's no more than a few inches of snow, any vehicle will be just fine out here. But please drive carefully after dark—roads are curvy and are susceptible to black ice at night.
