Campobello Island Dream
Campobello Island Dream is a lovingly maintained, waterfront, antique Victorian on the shores of the Passamaquoddy Bay, in the Bay of Fundy. 2019 is the first year this home, with beautiful views of the Bay, gleaming original woodwork, and over 100 years of history, has ever been offered as a vacation rental. Sit in the yard or on the beach any time of day to watch the marine life (seals, porpoises, whales), eagles, fishing boats, and in the evening the incredible Campobello sunsets. Visit the Roosevelt Campobello International Park to tour FDR’s “Summer White House”, enjoy Tea with Eleanor, hike the many well-maintained trails through the park, and explore the beaches to discover what treasures each may hold. Outside the Roosevelt parklands, there are whale watching trips, lighthouses to explore, and the Herring Cove Provincial Park with a sandy beach, golf course and restaurant. The athlete in you may wish to participate in the Bay of Fundy International Marathon – from the West Quoddy Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine to the East Quoddy Lighthouse on Campobello Island. The art & music lover in you might enjoy the annual Fogfest – a week-long celebration of art, music and community. Off-island, Lubec and Eastport, Maine are lovely coastal towns with shops and restaurants. When the ferry is running you can take a day-trip to Deer Island, NB or you can drive through the US to the next border crossing to go further into New Brunswick. More details on local beaches, hiking trails, restaurants and activities can be found in the home’s detailed guidebook. If you would like assistance planning prior to your visit, please feel free to contact the hosts. Guests will have full access to the entire house (with the exception of the attic), the large open yard, and the beachfront. Though we will not be available during your stay, our property manager, Angela, will be on hand to greet you and is only a phone call away to attend to your needs. Our neighborhood is quiet, with other historic homes and many long-time residents. Please be respectful of all of our neighbors, those who live here permanently and those just passing through (whales, seals, porpoises, eagles). Our property offers sunset and 4th of July fireworks views over the bay. There is no public transportation on the Island. Be sure to bring a passport for each person in your party! The border crossing via bridge from Lubec, Maine is the only land crossing available. When the ferry service is running, border agents at Deer Island, NB also require passport identification for each traveler. You may also want to check the regulations regarding items which are limited or barred from being brought into Canada/USA. Please note - although cannibis is now legal in Canada, it is NOT allowed to be transported across the border going either direction!!
