Comfortable one bedroom apartment, sleeps 4. in a serene setting with woods, fish pond and comfortable patio. Separate code lock entrance. Bedroom & ensuite bathroom have handicap features, including transfer chair. Well-equipped kitchen. Free WiFi, two TVs, Netflix, Amazon, sauna, off-street parking. Apartment situated near shops, restaurants, St. Mary's College and the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. 15 minutes from Chesapeake Bay, 1 hour to DC beltway. French and German also spoken. This apartment has a number of features that make it easier for people with disabilities to get around. It has handrails in the bathroom shower as well as on the large queen-sized bed. The floors are hardsurfaced, making it easy to navigate. and we provide a small transfer wheelchair to use while you are here. The apartment is also wonderful if you don't need handicap access and is large, well-maintained, with two wide-screen TVs. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, an induction plate, minor appliances including a coffee maker, utensils and dishes. There is a dining area and a separate laundry room. The apartment has a private entrance, takes up the entire walk-out basement of a two-story home and comprises about 900 square feet of living space. Some owners' belongings are stored in the wall closets, an adjacent wine cellar and in the laundry room, but these are not accessed on a daily basis. We will be available at check-in and for any questions you may have on where to go, what to see and the best places to eat. We may ask you if you would like to share a glass of wine. The apartment is in a small cul-de-sac with a wood right outside the door. It's quiet and you hardly know there are other properties around. It's the perfect place to relax. You will need a car but we are just a few minutes away from Chesapeake Bay, St. Mary's College of Maryland and the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. A shopping mall with Dicks Sporting Goods, Kohl's and several restaurants, a major gas station with a small grocery and deli, a pharmacy and a medical clinic are within easy walking distance. The area within two miles has many other stores and restaurants, including a Super Walmart. Access from the parking area is by means of a path around the back of the house or concrete stairs that short-circuit the path. The path would be difficult to negotiate for a single person in a wheelchair, especially going uphill. A second person to help push the chair would be advisable. It is possible to navigate the path in a power scooter, but not recommended for a power wheelchair.
